Circles and spheres are an integral part of our lives. From the wheels on our cars to the cup you pour your morning coffee into, circles appear everywhere. So, look around you right now. How many circles or spheres do you see?
Take part in A Smith Gallery's upcoming exhibition called "Spherical".
The exhibition will take part from 26 November 2010 to 22 January 2011 at the Texas State University - San Marcos.
Objective
Submit images that feature spherical shapes.
spher-i-cal: ball-shaped, circular, globular, orbicular, rounded, rotund, dishlike, oblique, ring-shaped, orbed, spiral.
Prizes
Forty five images will be selected for exhibition and a Blurb full color catalogue of the exhibit with all the accepted entries will be available for purchase. A Smith Gallery will retain 40% of the sales price.
Awards are $250 for Jurors Choice, $250 Creativity Award to be chosen by the gallery director, $100 for Visitors Choice and five Honorable Mentions.
Rules
- Entries must not have been exhibited previously in an exhibition at A Smith Gallery.
- A Smith Gallery retains the right to display, project, reproduce and subsequently display as thumbnails on A Smith Gallery website, work accepted for this exhibition for publicity and promotional purposes only. Individual photographers retain Copyrights to their individual works.
How to enter?
- Emailing Digital Files:
Files should be 1000 pixels in the longest dimension saved in JPEG format on high quality (not maximum). Images should be sampled at 72ppi.
Label each file with consecutive numbers followed by your name, i.e. 1LastName_FirstName.jpg. The number should correspond with the number on the application form. Please only use alpha-numeric character and underscores.
Email the digital files and application form information to entry [at] asmithgallery.com (please replace [at] with @).
- Sending Digital Files on a CD:

Entry fee
A non-refundable entry fee of $25 for the first 5 images and $5 for each additional image is required.
