Videonale 13 – Festival for Contemporary Video Art

“A place for discoveries” – that’s what art wrote about Videonale, the German festival for contemporary video art. The 13th edition of Videonale will take place from 14 April to 29 May 2011 at Kunstmuseum Bonn/Germany. All artists are invited to apply for Videonale 13 with a video work created in the past two years. For the first time Videonale will also accept multi-channel works to the contest.

Founded in 1984 the biannually initiated Videonale is counted amongst the oldest festivals for video art in Germany and Europe. Besides its high standard of presented works Videonale reached a widely accepted reputation in its attempt to develop new forms of presentation for video art.

2010 Erie Canalway Photo Contest

Capture the beauty, history, activities, and character of the Erie, Cayuga-Seneca, Oswego, and Champlain Canals and their surrounding communities for 2010 Erie Canalway Photo Contest.

Capture distinctive architecture, engineering marvels, canal structures, historic Main Streets, water activities and scenes, people having fun at canal-related events and activities or landscapes, waterscapes, wildlife, plants, the beauty of the seasons.

Winning entries will be featured in the 2011 Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor Calendar. Winners will also receive a copy of the calendar and other prizes to be determined.

SSFF & Asia 2011 Official Competition

The Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA, a.k.a former American Short Shorts) began in Harajuku, Tokyo in 1999, and introduced ‘short film’ to the Japanese audience. In the 12 years since, the festival has attracted more than 230,000 people, and has become one of the biggest short film festivals in Asia. Since 2004, SSFF & ASIA has been officially recognized as an Academy Award® accredited festival and is the only short film festival that has received this prestigious recognition in Japan.

Grand Prix winner is eligible to receive a consideration for the Academy Award® nomination in short film categories the following year.

In Search of Solidarity Photo Competition

In 2010, the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion, Europe wishes to raise the following question, crucial to Europeans: “How can we put an end to poverty and social exclusion?”

Given the importance the Socialist Group in the Committee of the Regions attaches to this issue, it has decided to devote its photographic competition, now in its third year, to the above topic.

This competition is open to young amateur photographers – residents in EU Member States.
