There is still time to enter YMFE-Scholarship Competition and compete for a full scholarship from the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe. The deadline is short, so act quickly!

This is a fantastic opportunity for music students! A total of 43 scholarships in 29 countries will be awarded to full-time students in 2011/2012.

The Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe (YMFE) is a European non-profit making charity that - above all - is dedicated to supporting talented music students in Europe. Since 1990, the Foundation has awarded scholarships worth more than 1 Million Euro in total to over 850 outstanding young musicians all over Europe.

Show Your Musical Talent Playing Brass & Woodwind Instruments

The YMFE-Scholarship Competition is open to full-time music students of any nationality not older than 25 years at the time of the application.

The rewarded discipline changes every year and is country specific. In 2011/2012, the scholarships’ discipline is Brass & Woodwind. Regulations may vary depending on your country.

Applicants will be selected according to their current musical ability and their demonstrated future potential. The basis for this evaluation is an initial screening from a recorded performance, followed by a live performance at the final selection. Selection Committees comprising senior figures from the world of music will select the most suitable applicants.

Win A Full Scholarship from the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe!

Each scholarship has a value of €1000 to €2000, depending on the country where the applicant is studying. The Scholarship covers one year and the money may be used for any purpose related to the advancement of studies.

Submit A Recording of Two Titles to Compete

You should complete an application form and send it to the appropriate contact address (for your country) together with a recording of two titles.

Please make sure to send a CD or DVD with your recordings together with the application form.

The format of the recording should be .WAV or MP3.

The quality of the sound does not have an effect on the later selection process.

The length of both pieces should not exceed more than 20 minutes.

The Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), one of the biggest, most traditional institutions of advanced artistic education in the world, is announcing the 2012 UdK Award for Interdisciplinary Art and Science!

This competition aims to give artists (fine art, media, architecture, design, music, theatre, visual communication etc.) and/or scientists the impetus and opportunity to work on content in the field of tension between the arts or between the arts and sciences.

The UdK Award for Interdisciplinary Art and Science is given on a biennial basis and is endowed with €7,500!

A Chance for Artists and Scientists

Art and science are moving towards one another, discovering common issues and working methods. The creative, imaginative processes in the arts and sciences are similar, whereas the concrete realisation of their results tends to differ. Repeatedly, this difference is the source of productive tension and areas of friction. In all disciplines of the arts and sciences, further developments over recent decades have been characterised by mutual influences and efforts at differentiation. Today, traditional dividing lines between the spheres can no longer be maintained; they are being newly defined and presented in their permeability.

This competition aims to give the impetus and opportunity to artists (fine art, media, architecture, design, music, theatre, visual communication etc.) and scientists to work between the priorities of the arts or between the arts and science.

The organizers expect innovative work that has not yet received a prize or award in any other competition to date.

The UdK Award is Awarded Biannually

The prize is endowed with 7,500 Euros and it can be divided among a max. of 3 artists/scientists or groups.

The UdK will also produce a publication of the prize-winning work(s) subsequent to the prize giving ceremony.

The prize-winner(s) are obliged to attend the award ceremony during the UdK Berlin’s Open Days (“Rundgang”) on Friday, 15 July 2012. The prize-winner’s travel costs will be refunded up to a sum of 1,000 Euros.

Individual and Group Entries May be Submitted

Individuals and groups are eligible to participate. Full-time employees of the UdK Berlin, as well as students of the UdK Berlin and other colleges/universities are excluded.

Artistic, scientific and technical means may be employed in the realisation of entries.

Entries may be submitted in either German or English.

Only one work may be submitted by each participant/group.
