DepicT! wants filmmakers worldwide to show their stuff in just a minute and a half. DepicT! is open to anyone, on any budget, from anywhere in the world working in any genre. Just make sure your super short is distinctive, imaginative and engaging to be in with a chance of winning some priceless industry exposure and exclusive prizes.

DepicT! is open to short films of all production techniques, including animation, documentary, drama, experimental or artist film and hybrid work.

DepicT! is a Watershed Project as part of the Encounters International Film Festival.

Objective

Create short films not longer than 90 seconds in any technique or genre.

Rules

DepicT! is open to anyone, on any budget, from anywhere in the world working in any genre.
DepicT! is open to short films of all production techniques, including animation, documentary, drama, experimental or artist film and hybrid work.
The duration of your film(s) must not exceed 90 seconds including titles and credits.
Only films completed since September ‘09 may be submitted. Entries made specifically for DepicT! are encouraged.
The maximum number of entries per individual is two.
The primary contact completing the submission process must be authorised to submit the film(s) and must have obtained necessary permissions for the inclusion of copyrighted music and/or images within the films.
If the original language is not English, please ensure that the film includes English subtitles.

2011 Dam Short Film Festival

The Dam Short Film Festival welcomes short films with any content and in any style, whether it be live-action, documentary, or animation. That said, entries must be 40 minutes or under in length. The year of production, however, does not matter.

Selected films will be screened on the 7th annual Dam Short Film Festival which will take place in Nevada, from 9 - 12 February 2011.

The 2011 Dam Short Film Festival will screen over 100 short films from all corners of the world.

Objective

The following short film categories are open for entries:

Best Drama,
Best Documentary,
Best Animation,
Best Sci-Fi / Horror,
Best Comedy,
Best Nevada Filmmaker,
Best Student, and
Audience Favorite.

The Student category is open to students only. The submitted film must have been created while the film's director or directors were enrolled at a school, college, or university. Proof of enrollment, such a copy of a student I.D., must be included with the submission. If the director is not enrolled at the time of submission, or has graduated, proof of past enrollment must be submitted.

The Nevada Filmmaker category is open to any short that was created while the director or directors were residents of Nevada. Proof of residency, such a copy of a driver's license, must be included with the submission.

Prizes

There will be 8 Award Categories:

All award-winners will be chosen by audience votes through a unique and accurate "voting chip" method. There will be no guest jurists for the 2011 festival.

Rules

NTSC DVD or PAL DVD preview copies may be submitted for festival consideration. Selected films, however, must provide one of the following NTSC exhibition formats: BetaSP, DVCam, HDV, miniDV, or DVD. PAL DVD exhibition copies are also acceptable.
Entries must be 40 minutes or under in length.
Exhibition copies must arrive at the festival office by 15 January 2011, so that they may be screened during the festival, 9 - 12 February 2011.
Non-English language films must be subtitled in English, or contain minimal dialog.
No submission materials will be returned. There are no exceptions.
Selected films will be responsible for the insured shipping of the exhibition copy to the festival.
Please keep in mind that the Dam Short Film Festival rarely programs short films that would receive an R or NC-17 rating if shown in a regular theater.
Upon selection, filmmakers are required to provide a minimum of 2 high-resolution digital stills from their film, plus 2 additional NTSC DVD, or PAL DVD preview copies.
The festival organizers reserve the right to include selected films in any category deemed appropriate.
Organizers also reserve the right to program selected films as many times during the festival as they see fit.
All submission fees paid by check or money order must be in U.S. funds. Films submitted without the correct payment will be disqualified.
By submitting to the 2011 Dam Short Film Festival, submitter gives express permission to the Dam Short Film Society to include the submitted film in the 2011 Mini-Film Market (where the film may be viewed by attending press, filmmakers, and other VIPs).

The Directors Circle Scriptwriting Competition strives to discover scriptwriters and to transform their dreams into reality through discovery, international recognition, and career development.

The competition accept submissions internationally of scripts of all genres including documentary, horror, experimental, animation, Religious/Spiritual and Gay/Lesbian.

This competition is open to everyone, however script must not have been previously optioned, purchased, or currently be in production or previously produced.

Prizes

The Directors Circle Scriptwriting Competition offers a $5,000 cash award to our first place winner of the 2010 competition among other prizes. The winning script will be forwarded to agents and industry professionals for consideration.

All competition winners, runners-up, and finalists will earn the chance to have their scripts read by established production companies and agents in LA and NY.

Rules

All countries are eligible.
All genres are accepted.
Must be 18 years of age.
Scripts must be submitted in English.
Feature Length Scripts should be between 80 (minimum) and 125 (maximum) pages not including the title page.
Short Length Scripts should be between 1 (minimum) and 50 (maximum) pages not including the title page.
Scripts should be properly formatted. Print on white paper using only 12 pt. Courier, or 12 pt. Courier Final Draft fonts.
All submitted submissions become property of the Directors Circle Scriptwriting Competition and will not be returned. At the end of the competition, the Directors Circle will destroy all screenplays.
With the exception of the 10 finalists, rewritten/corrected pages will not be accepted once the entry has been received.
Script submissions must be postmarked by deadline dates.
Scripts must not have been previously optioned, purchased, in production or produced.
Any script that becomes purchased, optioned or put into production before the final deadline will be eliminated from competition with no entry fee refund.
Scripts written as adaptations of other works must have secured rights before being submitted.
Scripts must be original work of the author.
Multiple authorship is allowed. If the script wins, the writers will divide the prize.
Multiple entries are allowed, but their own completed entry form and their own appropriate entry fee must accompany each entry.
All entrants will receive confirmation of receipt of entry via email and all entrants will receive notification of acceptance or non-acceptance to the festival.

Osaka Asian Film Festival 2011 International Competition

Osaka Asian Film Festival, held 5 - 13 March 2011, is launching an international competition section for the first time, and is accepting entries from now until 13 November 2010. Osaka Asian Film Festival is one of the newest international film festivals in Japan.

In addition to films (fiction, documentary, animation) made in Asia, films related to Asian people or Asian countries are also eligible for entry, even if the films are made outside Asia by non-Asian filmmakers.

Short films (less than 60 minutes) are not eligible for the section.

Objective

Submit film entries to the international competition. All films selected and invited for the competition must meet the following conditions:

Must be produced in Asian countries and regions or be Asia-related.
Must be in 35mm, 16mm or video.
Must not have been released publicly in Japan, including theater screenings and/or TV broadcasts, prior to 20 March 2011.
Must be completed after 1 January 2009.
Must be longer than 60 minutes.

Prizes

There are two official awards, the Grand Prize and the Most Promising Talent Award, with cash prizes of JPY 500,000 and JPY 200,000 respectively, as well as other awards.

The Grand Prize will be awarded to the best film in the competition Section, and the Most Promising Talent Award will be given to an artist involved in one of the films screened in the section. Any directors, producers, actors/actresses, directors of photography, production designers, sound designers or other artists who show remarkable talent in a participating film are qualified for the award.

Rules

Films related to Asian people or Asian countries are also eligible for entry, even if the films are made outside Asia by non-Asian filmmakers.
Short films (less than 60 minutes) are not eligible for the section.
All expenses for the shipping of materials to OAFF are the responsibility of the applicants.
Applicants are responsible for all necessary copyright clearances for their film.
Video cassettes/DVDs submitted to OAFF will not be returned to the applicants.

Tricky Women is the first and only festival of animated film that is dedicated exclusively to animation by women. Since 2001 it has been held in Vienna each March.

The festival offers an international competition of animated short films realised by female artists and produced in 2009 or 2010.

Each filmmaker, producer or distributor may submit as many films as they like. Each film submitted must be accompanied by an entry form and sent on a separate tape or reel. No films entered in prior Tricky Women Festivals shall be admitted.

The Giant Incandescent Resonating Animation Festival is the only exclusively independent animation festival in Canada, with a focus on experimental and self-produced animated film. GIRAF plays an essential role in the promotion, education and appreciation of independent animation from around the world, exposing hungry local audiences to the best animated content from at home and abroad.

GIRAF6, presented by Quickdraw Animation will take place from 3 - 7 November 2010 at the Plaza Theatre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Objective

Submit independent short animations. Selection criteria is based on artistic merit alone.

Prizes

Each year GIRAF presents 4 awards in the following category for short films:

The AMAAS Best of Alberta Short Animation Award (Juried)
The Best of Canada Short Animation Award (Juried)
The Best International Short Animation Award (Juried)
The Audience Favourite Short Animation Award (Audience)

Rules

GIRAF6 is open to Canadian and international filmmakers.
Entries must be submitted on DVD (NTSC region free). Entrants may submit more than one entry, however, each entry must be on a separate DVD and accompanied by an original completed and signed entry form.
Preview DVD's must be labled with title of entry and entrant's name.
Productions must be Independently produced, with the Director retaining complete editorial control.
Animations produced within the past 3 years are eligible to enter.
Maximum running time is 20 minutes.
Selected works can be screened from 35mm, but otherwise will be submitted digitally following precise guidelines given by the organization. Submission of an entry indicates acceptance of all regulations, a guarantee that a screening copy (in proper format) will be made available for the dates of the festival, and authorization to publicly exhibit the entered work at both GIRAF6 and Best of GIRAF6 screenings.

Online or emailed previews will not be accepted.

Entries must be received by Quickdraw Animation Society no later than 2 August 2010.

Screening copies must be received by 1 October 2010.
