SlowArt Productions presents Emerging Artists 2011, the 19th annual competition for group exhibition, and awards. Open to all artists working in any media this event is devoted to the discovery, introduction and promotion of emerging artists.
The competition is open to all artists, national and international, working in all media.
Winning artists will be featured in a group exhibition at the Limner Gallery, 1 - 30 April, 2011.
Objective
All forms of painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, graphics, digital and installation art, video, etc. are eligible.
You may submit prints, digital images on CD or DVD or 35mm slides.
- Prints Alone: Prints of artwork may be up to 8.5" x 11" and may be digital (ink jet, laser etc.) or photographic prints. Artist name, title, size, media and price should be on the front or back of the print. If you want your prints returned, follow the return guidelines.
- Digital files on CD or DVD: Digital image files may be submitted on CD or DVD discs. Images should be readable on PC platform and should be in TIF or JPG format. No files larger than 15MB please. Reference prints must be included. Reference prints may be b/w or color and do not have to be high quality and may be any size individual prints (label as for prints above) or may be a single sheet with multiple prints representing the images on the disc. If submitting a single sheet , size images 1.5" or larger. Next to each image write the title, media and dimensions. If you submit digital files without reference prints, your disc may not be properly viewed.
- Video: Submit a DVD that will play on a standard TV DVD player. The gallery shows video on a flat screen TV, video artists requiring projection equipment must provide their own equipment.
- Slides: Slides should be 35mm. On each slide write the image list number and artists name, title of work, media and dimensions. Indicate top of work. Glass slides are prohibited.
Prizes
Winning artists will be featured in a group exhibition at the Limner Gallery, 1 - 30 April 2011. The exhibition will also be displayed on the Limner Gallery web site.
There will be a $1000 cash prize awarded to one artist. One artist will be awarded a two page display in Direct Art Volume #18, Fall 2011 issue. Two artists will be awarded a single page display.
Rules
- The competition is open to all artists, national and international, working in all media.
- Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
- Wall mounted works must not be taller than 96" no wider than 120".
- Sculptural work must fit through a standard height, 36"wide entry door.
- All works in the show must be for sale.
- The gallery will take a 30 percent commission on all sales. Sale price is determined by the artist.

Entry fee
There is a $35 entry fee for one to four artworks entered, presentation is by digital files, prints or 35mm slides. There is a $5 fee for each additional artwork above four.
- Details of 2D artwork count as an additional artwork.
- Sculptors may provide one additional view per artwork without cost.
- Artists accepted to exhibit will not be charged additional fees of any kind.
- Payments may be by check or money order payable to SlowArt Productions, or by credit card using PayPal.
