The 2012 Photocrati Fund Competition

The Photocrati Fund offers $5000 grants to photographers to undertake important humanitarian and environmental photography projects. The goal is to identify outstanding photographers and to provide the resources necessary to pursue projects that will have a tangible and positive effect on the world.

The 2012 Photocrati Fund competition is open from January 2012 through 1 April 2012. The 2012 Photocrati Fund award will be announced at the Look3 Festival of the Photograph in Charlottesville, Virginia in June 2012.

The grant winner will become a Photocrati Fellow for the calendar year from the announcement of his/her award until the announcement of the following year’s award.

RIBA Norman Foster Traveling Scholarship 2012

Applications are now open for the RIBA Norman Foster Traveling Scholarship 2012. This scholarship is awarded annually to a student of architecture.

Students from all RIBA-validated schools worldwide are invited to apply for this £6,000 scholarship, which funds international research on topics and in locations of the student's choosing. The topic of the research should, however, relate to the survival of our cities and towns.

The RIBA Norman Foster Traveling Scholarship has been running since 2007. Last year's awardee traveled to Delhi, Shanghai, Beijing, Oslo, Paris, Belfast, Kumasi and Johannesburg between July and September 2011.

29th Aydin Doğan International Cartoon Competition

The Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition is organized every year in Turkey by the Aydın Doğan Foundation. Entries are now being accepted for the 29th edition of the competition.

The Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition is acknowledged in the world as the Oscar of cartoons. The competition has been organized for 28 years. So far, more than 6500 artists from 128 countries have taken part in the competition. These figures are indicative of the scope and importance of the award.

The competition is open to professional and amateur cartoonists from all over the world.

Amadeus – Choral Composition Contest 2011 / 2012

Amadeus is the name of the annual international contest of choral composition which is now accepting submission for its sixth - 2011 / 2012 - edition.

The contest is one of the activities of the Contemp-Coralia project, which is trying to promote and dynamize contemporary music and musicians inside and outside the region of Extremadura. Contemp-Coralia belongs to a greater project called Extremadura Y Su Música, which has been carried out in the region since 2003.

The 2011 / 2012 International Amadeus Contest of Choral Composition will award four main prizes - each consisting of €500, performance, edition of the work and promotion - and other special prizes.

The 2012 IFES Democracy Themed Photo Contest

The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) conducts an annual democracy themed photography competition to profile the many ways individuals demonstrate a sense of civic responsibility. Entries are now being accepted for the 2012 edition of the competition.

The contest is divided into two categories: one open to the public and another open exclusively to IFES employees including former employees, interns and consultants.

One winner and as many as ten finalists will be named for each category. The winner in each category will receive a prize of $600.

Designers in Residence is only open to designers who live, and are eligible to work, in the UK.

The 2012 John Lennon Scholarship Competition

Established in 1997 by Yoko Ono, this scholarship program honors the memory of one of the preeminent songwriters of the 20th century, John Lennon. Lennon’s enormous creative legacy includes such songs as, “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” “Strawberry Fields,” “Imagine,” “I Am the Walrus,” “All You Need Is Love,” and “Come Together” and continues to inspire and uplift new generations of music lovers around the world. More than $300,000 in scholarships have been awarded over the past thirteen years.

The 2012 John Lennon Scholarship competition is open only to U.S. college students between the ages of 17 and 24. Three scholarships with prizes totaling $20,000 will be awarded to the best original songs submitted to the competition.
