The Open West is an annual open competition and exhibition inviting submissions from national and international artists practising contemporary and conceptual art, inclusive of painting, installation, film, photography, print and sculpture. All artists selected for exhibition will be invited to the Private View on Friday, 11 February 2011 when the awards will be announced. There are no geographical restrictions, but artists must be over 21.

Sponsored by Kawneer and administered by the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS), the program challenges students to learn about building materials, specifically architectural aluminum building products and systems in the design of a modern and creative school for students ranging from kindergarten to sixth grade. While open to any student, the competition is designed for advanced students. Total prize money is $7,225, including $2,500 for the first place winning design.

Undiscovered illustration and graphic artists worldwide now have the chance to reveal themselves internationally. Illustrative´s arms are open to receive works from new artists from all over the world for the Swatch Young Illustrators Award. The award offers the winners not only the opportunity to be part of Illustrative in May 2011 in Berlin, but also prizes worth 6.000 Euros, the opportunity to design a Swatch watch, publications and illustration agency contracts and the possibility of exhibiting in future Illustrative festivals in some of the most creative cities of the world.
