Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery presents a Juried Competition, in which 2D artists from around the world are called upon to make online submissions for the theme “Animals” for inclusion into an online group exhibition. Light Space & Time encourages entries from all 2D artists regardless of where they reside and regardless of their experience or education in the art field to enter this art event. A group exhibition of the top five finalists will be held online at the Light Space & Time Art Gallery during the month of March 2011.

The Keyholder Residency Program offers emerging artists free 24-hour access to printmaking facilities to develop new work and foster their artistic careers. Residencies are free and one year long, starting on 1 April and 1 October each year, and they take place in the shared Artists’ Studio, including the solvent/etching area and the darkroom. Keyholders work independently, in a productive atmosphere alongside other contemporary artists. Artists from all disciplines are eligible to apply; print-making skills are not required, but some familiarity with the medium is recommended. Only current legal US residents may apply for the Keyholder Residency Program.

Type Directors Club (TDC) is accepting entries for its annual movie title design competition – Intro. The deadline is short so you’ll have to act quickly on this one! TDC is looking for original movie titles for various types of projects. The movie titles must have been produced in 2010. Selected entries will be awarded with a Certificates of Excellence becoming part of TDC’s annual publication – Typography. Heavyweight title lists bring typographic brilliance to the big screen. Mozilla is challenging you to design a t-shirt for Firefox 4! T-shirts are a big deal at Mozilla, and your help is needed in creating the official Firefox 4 launch shirt. The goal of this challenge is to create a unique design that captures the essence of Firefox 4. The winning design will be printed as the official Firefox 4 launch t-shirt, a limited edition item featured in the Mozilla store and distributed to thousands of fans and contributors around the world.

The Design Matters 2 competition is a call for ideas to design a building block of an inclusive school environment that will uniquely enhance the quality of life for teens and adults with disabilities who participate in the Easter Seals VIP Academy. All architects, designers, students, artists or persons who can contribute new ideas to this challenge are eligible to submit entries on Design Matters 2. Both individual and team entries are accepted. The first place winner will be awarded $1,000 on a gala event in Florida, in April 2011.

So the brief for the newest Hugo Create challenge is to create a design inspired by the least limited of the artistic genres, surrealism. Interpret it in a progressive Hugo way. What should surrealists be doing today? Should you be twisting the minds of Dali and Miró? Or should you revolutionize surreal to make it really real? Show how surrealism should work today, and include the Hugo Man bottle in your design. Ten winners will be selected and each will receive $500 cash.

Brass Initiative is looking for programmatic diversity and new compositions in various styles. Brass Initiative is a new brass chamber group made of seasoned chamber players, adept in the realms of classical, jazz, Broadway, commercial, and pop styles. Brass Initiative’s goal is to commission new works crafted to display the artistic diversity of brass while simultaneously ensuring the enjoyment and entertainment of the audiences. Works selected for this project will be recorded in summer 2011 and released as an album in the winter of 2011/12.

The AIA Young Architects Forum (YAF) and the AIA Committee on Design (COD) invites architects, students, and allied design professionals to submit sketches to the international 2011 YAF/COD Ideas Competition. In this unique sketch competition, submitters are asked to explore the principles of Universal Design as well as their overlap with values of social and environmental sustainability. Winners will be announced and will have their work exhibited at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2011 National Convention and Design Exposition in New Orleans, Louisiana, 12-14 May 2011. Selected entries will be displayed on the AIA website.
