The 2013 International Songwriting Competition (ISC) has recently been opened for entries. This annual song contest has been created to provide the opportunity for both aspiring and established songwriters to have their songs heard in a professional, international arena. ISC is open to all amateur and professional songwriters and anyone regardless of nationality or origin. This year 68 winners will share in the cash and prizes of more than US $150,000!

Art Moves Festival has just opened its 2013 Billboard Art Competition and is seeking for entries from all artists interested in billboard art. Artists are invited to prepare an artwork in response to this year’s competition theme “The community or the individual? Support or control?”. The competition slogan can be treated as a metaphor of all the processes taking place in the world at the moment. Ten (10) most interesting works will be displayed on billboards in the city space during the Art Moves Festival in September / October 2013 in Torun, Poland.

Marking its 20th anniversary Transparency International is hosting a youth photo competition to raise awareness about the corrosive problem of corruption and how it can be tackled. How would you illustrate the negative effects corruption has on your world through photography? The University of Illinois Board of Trustees is currently preparing the 2013 International Sustainable Electronics Competition (formerly known as the International E-Waste Design Competition). This year marks the third edition of this international competition related to electronic waste. The spirit of this competition is to prompt the industrialized world to dialogue about product designs and non-product concepts for environmentally responsible green computing and entertainment. Through the International Sustainable Electronics Competition, participants are asked to explore solutions to remediate the existing e-waste problem, prevent e-waste generation in the future, and foster a more sustainable system for electronic device development, use, and management.

Registration is now open for the European Fashion Award FASH 2014. The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is delighted to announce the launch of a new design competition for transforming the unoccupied Curtis Green Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) building. The competition is launched on behalf of the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) and Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) to create a new central London HQ – replacing their existing New Scotland Yard building. The new HQ, to be called Scotland Yard, will involve the redevelopment of the existing and currently unoccupied Curtis Green MPS building located on the Victoria Embankment, London, SW1.

The Department of Economic Development (DOED) of the Taipei City Government has recently kicked off the 2013 Taipei International Design Award. The organizers are looking for innovative works in the categories “Industrial Design”, “Visual Communication Design” and “Public Space Design”. They would like to encourage using design to improve the city’s economic, social, environmental, and cultural development by providing its users with a safer, harmonious, and more convenient lifestyle – that’s the goal of the 2013 Taipei International Design Award. Entries can be submitted individually or as a group with up to five members. There is no limit to the number of entries.
