Forest Europe has launched a new photography contest called “Show Off Your Forest”. The competition is open to all individuals over the age of 18, who like forests. “Show Off Your Forest” hopes to exhibit the three cornerstones that are the basis of the Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) promoted by Forest Europe at a pan-European level. Photographs and videos can be submitted. There are three separate categories for photography entries – Economic; Socio-cultural and Environmental – as for the videos, they must highlight the socio-cultural, economic and environmental aspects of pan-European forests.

The organizers of the Green-Go International Short Film Contest are inviting you to enter the 2013 competition by shooting creative / shocking / funny / explicit eye-opener short films on three subjects related to Ecology. Do you care about that almost 1 billion people don’t have clean drinking water? Do you want to change the world and be on the big screen with your creative thoughts? The short film should be either a campaign film with maximum of 60 seconds or a short film between 60 seconds and 4 minutes.

The 2013 IIDA Healthcare Interior Design Competition has opened for entries. This competition honors and celebrates outstanding originality and excellence in the design and furnishings of healthcare interior spaces. This IIDA competition is open to professional Interior designers worldwide and projects that have been completed between 1 January 2011 and 31 March 2013. Winning entries will be published in the October issue of Healthcare Design magazine and on the IIDA website.

Anima, Brussels Cartoon and Animated Film Festival, is now accepting entries for 2014, seeking to promote cartoons and animated films from all over the world. The Festival also seeks to foster a dialogue between professionals, filmmakers and the public, and to raise awareness of quality animation among film and television distributors. The Anima festival has an international competition as well as a national competition for films produced in Belgium; both competition are open to all animated films made after 30 June 2012 and make no distinction between formats or techniques, regardless of its geographic origin. Entries are now being accepted for the Ilustrarte 2014 competition, part of the 6th Biennial International Exhibition of Children’s Book Illustration of Lisbon. Every two years, Ilustrarte brings together children’s books illustrators, originals, publishers and readers of all ages. EDP Foundation invites children’s books illustrators from all over the world to participate in the 2014 competition by sending 3 original – published or unpublished – illustrations. The size of each illustration must not exceed 40 x 60 cm. The technique and the medium are at the discretion of the artist. The selected entries in 2014, will become part of the biennial exhibition and one will be awarded the Ilustrarte prize 2014 – a 5000 Euro prize, to be awarded on the opening night of the exhibition, in January 2014.

Command X, the ultimate reality show for emerging graphic designers, is back for a fourth season this fall, giving seven up-and-coming designers the chance to win the title and break into the industry. This is a live competition that will take place during the “Head, Heart, Hand: AIGA Design Conference” in Minneapolis, 10-12 October 2013. This year, contestants who make it through the first round will have the chance to work with an AIGA Medalist mentor — including design legends Jessica Helfand, Jennifer Morla, Lucille Tenazas, Michael Vanderbyl and Lorraine Wild.

Lower East Side Printshop, the premier not-for-profit printmaking studio in New York, has opened applications for its 2013 Keyholder Residency Program, for residencies starting on 1st October 2013. The program offers emerging artists — under-recognized and under-represented artists at early stages in their careers — free 24-hour access to printmaking facilities to develop new work and foster their artistic careers. A total of 8 artists are awarded the residency annually.

The 6th annual London International Creative Competition (2013) has opened  for submissions! LICC is looking for innovative artwork from passionate visual artists, regardless of experience or nationality. Fifteen (15) winners will receive the LICC trophy and their work will be presented at the LICC bi-annual awards ceremony in London. One (1) prize-winner will be chosen to receive the £2,000 cash prize. The finalists together with shortlist will be published in the LICC Book of Creative Designs.

The Tapirulan Cultural Association announces the ninth (2014) edition of its illustrators competition Calendar Duemila. Calendar Duemila 14 is themed “Eden” and open to any Italian or foreign artist, without limits to age. The organizers invite you to create illustrations in any techniques you prefer, while exploring the competition theme. A jury will select, 40 works to be published in a catalog and displayed on an exhibition. Among the 40 works selected, 12 will also be published within the annual Tapirulan calendar. A 2.000 Euro prize will also be awarded.

The Interaction Design Association (IxDA) has just opened submissions for the 2014 Interaction Awards. This competition recognizes and celebrates examples of excellence in Interaction Design across domains, channels, environments and cultures and is held third year in a row. The 2013 Interaction Awards recognized 25 projects selected from hundreds of entries from 27 countries. Winners of the 2014 Awards will be celebrated and announced at Interaction14 conference in Amsterdam 5-8 February, 2014.
