Selected works in this competition will be exhibited in New York City and offered for sale. Small Works NYC II is open to all artists, American and International, who have created small works of art. With the exhibition — scheduled for 15 September through 6 October, 2013 — Jeffrey Leder Gallery intends to celebrates the dynamics of a smaller size to artwork.

The 8 fest seeks your 8mm, Super-8, 9.5mm or other small gauge film projects (such as loops and installations) for their 2014 Film Festival edition, next January. The Call for Submissions for 2014 has recently been announced and all filmmakers are invited to submit. First-time filmmakers, youth & under-serviced communities are also welcome! The 8 fest is a unique Toronto-based film festival that presents all forms of small-gauge film: 8mm, Super 8 and 9.5mm, as well as works in installation, loops, and ‘proto-cinema devices’ like zoetropes.

The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia and the Typographische Gesellschaft München call for entries for Granshan 2013, 6th International Type Design Competition for Non-Latin typefaces. All type designers from all parts of the world are invited to take part with typefaces that have been designed or digitized after 2011. This year’s competition includes a new category for Chinese typefaces. For 2013, the organizers will honor up to three winners with certificates in each written language, thus each category. Furthermore, a jury of international experts will award the Grand Prize including prize money of 1,000 Euro.

To award and foster excellence and widespread influence in Art, Design and Technology, Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design (CIID) and Intel Corporation have launched a new special research fellowship program. The Intel Research Fellowship @ CIID recognizes and resources outstanding researchers who extend the impact of research in interaction design, artistic practice in technology and creative inquiry in communications and media. The Fellowship will be offered to practice-based researchers in art, design and technology, and will support the development of self-led projects that push boundaries in practice and thinking in these areas.

The Department of Commerce of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of China and China Productivity Center (CPC), together with their collaborators are inviting graphic designers around the world to enter the 2013 Taiwan International Graphic Design Award competition. The organizers are looking for innovative works in the categories “Poster design” and “CI (Corporate Identity) design”, offering a prize of US$ 5,000 for the top winner. The competition is hosted to publicly select outstanding works with international standard, effectively promote the capacity of Taiwan’s commercial design, advance opportunities for the local commercial design services to interact with international counterparts, as well as establish Taiwan International Design Award brand.

The 2014 Saul Bell Design Award Competition has opened for submissions! Now in its 14th year, the Saul Bell Design Award competition continues to recognize artists whose work challenges traditional perceptions of jewelry design. Artists and students worldwide are invited to enter their most innovative jewelry creations in six different categories. Submitted pieces must be wearable jewelry and must be composed of at least 75% of the material specified in the chosen category. The piece may not have won an award in any other competition prior to entry submission.

Young Architects Competitions (YAC) is inviting architecture enthusiasts, professionals and students to enter the “Post-Quake Visions” design competition. This is YAC’s second competition, initiated with the aims to offer participants a chance of practicing solid, refined research in of post-seismic design. The competition will result in giving out three (3) main prizes and twelve (12) honorable mentions. The first prize includes 3000 Euro, publication on architectural magazines and websites and an exhibition. With “Post-Quake Visions”, YAC aims to rethink and redesign the quake-inflicted gaps left inside ancient urban tissues. This endeavor pints to revamp such scarred ecosystem undercultural and economical keys, with the goal of finding out urban perspectives and social possibilities once undisclosed or inconceivable. YAC also aims to base this research firstly on reading the wounds the quake left on cities, communities and architectures. By focusing on such vacant spaces, the goal is to insert brand new architecture able to blend ancient heritage with contemporary pace.
