The European Space Agency (ESA) is celebrating 25 years since the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) by hosting a creative competition. The ESA/Hubble Ode to Hubble competition lets anyone inspired by Hubble express their feelings or share their ideas in a creative and innovative way. It is also a chance for you to join the celebration of the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope’s 25th anniversary! As long as it can be uploaded as a YouTube, Vine and Instagram video less than three minutes long you can submit anything. Pan over a drawing, scroll over a poem or text, film your own Hubblecast, film yourself performing or talking about a Hubble topic, create an animation or compose a piece of music and upload it as a video piece.

The 2015 CG Student Awards (CGSA) competition has just opened for entries and students around the world are invited to submit their best CG work. The CG Student Awards is an annual event which showcases and rewards excellence in computer graphics from students and recent graduates. With the help of our amazing sponsors, the event has helped kick-start the careers of countless digital artists, provided 60 paid studio internships and given away over $590,000 in prizes. This year, the competition will award prizes valued at $325,000 and twenty-four (24) Studio Internships at companies such as WETA Digital, Epic Games, Moving Picture Company, and Double Negative!

Venus Febriculosa, a website devoted to contemporary literature and the art and design of books, is currently hosting its 10th competition dedicated to Tom Phillips’ book “A Humument”. The purpose of the contest is to foster interest in literature and its relation to the visual arts. Since 1966, artist Tom Phillips has been transforming each page of a ‘found novel’ (W.H. Mallock’s 1892 A Human Document) into a ‘visual-poetic artist’s book’ called “A Humument”. The contest is to create an original visual-poetic work using Page 4 of the novel using any techniques and methods. Tom Phillips will select the winning submissions and each winner will receive a limited edition print from “A Humument” signed and editioned by the artist.
