The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is currently hosting a medal design competition for the Lillehammer 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games – an elite sporting event for young people from all over the world. Participation in the YOG Medal Design Competition is open to everyone, with only one submission per participant allowed. The creator of the best design will win a visit for two persons from 11th to 15th February 2016 to the Lillehammer 2016 Youth Olympic Games. Also, the winner will receive a souvenir set of the official medals of the Lillehammer 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games and a Samsung tablet. Prizes will be awarded to the creators of the second and the third best designs.

Тhe 2015 Golden Pin Design Award competition, seeking to celebrate the world’s most innovative designs for the huaren market, is now open for entries. This year, as the design world turns its sights on Taipei, the city which will host the World Design Capital in 2016, Taiwan’s Golden Pin Design Award hopes to attract more entries from international companies keen to prove their prowess in the huaren (Chinese-speaking) market. Projects or products can be submitted in four award categories: Product Design, Visual Communication Design, Packaging Design, and Interior Design.

PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival has recently opened for submissions for 2015 and calling young video-makers around the world to enter their best work. The Festival accepts short video works – of up to 5 minutes – by entrants between the ages of 9-25. There are three (3) age-based competition categories and prizes of $1,000 for the best video in each of the categories. Submitted videos must pertain to the topics of migration, diversity, social inclusion, and related topics. The ARCH+ Journal, in the context of the UN-Habitat III Conference, is hosting an international competition called Planetary Urbanism – Critique of the Present in the Medium of Information Design. The Competition is supported by the Federal Foreign Office, Germany consulted by the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU). The Planetary Urbanism competition is about casting light on the current problems of the urbanization process, indicating strategies in the approach to these problems and presenting more advanced concepts of urbanization.
