Startup tech company Sonoport is running a competition for creating a sound logo and invites musicians and sound creatives to participate. Using Sonoport’s Sound Animator web audio tool, participants are challenged to create a new sonic identity that represents sound & creativity + cutting edge technology & coding. An international jury of sound experts will choose the winner. The competition award is a cash prize of $1,500.

The Print Center’s 90th Annual International Competition has opened and all artists who use printmaking and/or photography as critical components of their work are invited to participate. Especially encouraged to enter are artists who push the boundaries of traditional photographic and printmaking practices. Eligible for submission are works completed in the past three years and only one submission per person is allowed. For its 90th Annual International Competition, The Print Center will award three solo exhibitions (May-August 2016), the Philadelphia Museum of Art Collection Award and over $2,000 in other purchases and material prizes.

The British Journal of Aesthetics has recently launched its 2015 Cover Design Competition inviting students on full-time undergraduate or graduate courses at art and design schools to participate. Every year the British Journal of Aesthetics asks students to design a cover for the journal, which is published by Oxford University Press, both in print and online. This year’s theme is “Art in the digital age“. The winning design will be used on the cover of the journal and the issue will carry a half-page about the winner and his or her work. The winner will receive 5 printed copies of the issue featuring their design, and will also be invited to choose £150-worth of books published by Oxford University Press, free of charge.

The 2016 NordArt annual international exhibition of visual arts and competition has opened for submissions from artists worldwide. The Kunstwerk Carlshütte non-profit cultural initiative is once again hosting one of the largest juried exhibition of contemporary art in Europe, representing all facets of visual arts. Each year one artist is awarded the NordArt-Prize worth 10,000 Euro and invited to participate again in the next NordArt exhibition. One Public Choice Award is awarded as well and approximately 10 artists get invited on the international NordArt Symposium, which precedes the annual exhibition.

MUMEDI, the Mexican Museum of Design, represented by the MUMEDI Foundation, call designers, students, teachers, professionals and anyone interested in the subject, to participate in the 2015 “To Death with a Smile” international poster design contest, to promote the exercise of good design. The competition theme is about death — a personal consideration or approach, the meaning in your own culture, how we fear, celebrate or deal with it — and can be reflected in serious or playful way. The best three poster designs will be awarded with separate prizes. A selection of the best 300 or 400 posters will be exhibited at MUMEDI, for a period of 3 to 4 months.

Tschutti heftli, the Swiss football magazine is hosting an illustration competition for its 2016 football album and calling all illustrators worldwide. The challenge is to design and submit a digitized portrait of the French football legend Zinédine Zidane, in any technique: 2- or 3-D, in color or monochrome, digital or analogue, painted, pasted or drawn. The best illustrations will be awarded with a total of 5,000 Swiss Francs and the winners will have the privilege to design stickers for one of the teams of Euro 2016, to be included in Tschutti heftli’s legendary collector’s album.

PLAKART in partnership with the Skopje City Museum announces the launch of the 8th International Student Poster Competition (ISPC), Skopje 2015 — Skopjeposter. This year the Competition is themed: “Enabled for Disabled” and the objective is to create and promote better opportunities for people with disabilities. Two (2) winners will be awarded with participation, with fully covered expenses, as part of the jury of the 9th Skopje Poster Festival, a poster exhibition in 2016 at MKC Gallery in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia and an Icograda certificate.

Ilustrarte 2016, the 7th Biennial of Children’s Book Illustration is now open for submissions from all illustrators around the world. Original illustrations, unpublished or published after the 1st of January 2013 are eligible for entry. The selected illustrators will take part in an exhibition and one will be awarded the Ilustrarte prize 2016 – 5,000 Euro, to be awarded on the opening of the exhibition, in January 2016.

Nikon’s Small World competition has opened for entries for 2016, to once again recognize and celebrate beautiful and complex images captured by the light microscope. The Competition is divided in two categories – Photomicrography and In Motion – and open for all microscopic photographic and video works, originating from any part of the world. Twenty (20) best works in the Photomicrography category and three (3) in the In Motion category will be awarded. The first prize in each category is $3,000 toward the purchase of Nikon equipment.
