The 2016 Future Of Money Design Award competition challenges designers and artists to create a new origin story surrounding a monetary artifact or theory. Organizers are looking for monetary origin stories that challenge the way we think about the nature of money, with all current or past monetary artifacts usable as a starting point. For example, gold and silver, coins, paper notes, credit cards, binary code, NFC (Near Field Communication), Chip and Pin, Bitcoin, big stone blocks and everything in between. The competition runs in two phases. Each shortlisted entrant will receive £500 to develop their idea and produce a short video. The best project will be awarded with £750 and the top three entrants will have the opportunity to present their concepts at the Tomorrows Transaction forum in London, to an audience of financial experts and industry leaders.

Alexia Foundation has recently started accepting applications for its 2016 production Grants competition open for students and professional photographers around the world. Grants are awarded to give voice to those who go unheard, foster cultural understanding and expose social injustice. Alexia Foundation intends to give them the financial ability to produce substantial stories that drive change in the effort to make the world a better place. The Professional Grant Winner will receive $20,000 (US) to produce his or her proposed project. Several different grants will be given out as part of the Student Awards to both undergraduate and graduate students.
