Celebrating the 10th edition this year, the Renaissance Photography Prize 2017 is now officially open for entries. Emerging and established photographers from any country are invited to upload their work — as single entries or series — and start their photography careers. The prize fund for 2017 totals to £4,000, divided between the prizes for Best Single Image, Best Series, three Single Image Category Winners and the Best Series Runner Up. Many non-monetary awards are offered as well.

Innsbruck Nature Film Festival, the International Film Competition on Nature and Environment, has opened the call for entries for 2017. This international nature film competition, offers motivated filmmakers a platform for presenting their latest work. Four film festival days with film presentations and a high-quality side program are the framework for an on-topic, ecological, and artistic discourse. INFF 2017 takes place from 10th–13th October and offers a total prize money of approximately 15,000 Euro.

The OSTEN 49th World Gallery Of Cartoons – Skopje 2017 is seeking for hand-drawn cartoons by authors from all around the world. Professional, semi-professional and amateur cartoonists can participate with one or more original cartoons, satirical drawings and comics/strips. This year OSTEN Skopje will award three (3) first prizes of $1,000, ten (10) special awards as plaques and the Cico Award to one Macedonian cartoonist.

Film submissions are being accepted for the 2017 Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF), scheduled for 20-24 September 2017. Short and feature animated films, completed after 27 May 2016 are eligible to enter the Festival’s competition programs. This year, the Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) will award a total of eighteen (18) different prizes across five (5) main competition categories.

The Design of Dissent, one of the most prominent books about socially and politically driven graphics, is about to get an expanded edition and your work might be included. Milton Glaser and Mirko Ilic, the authors of the aforementioned book, are calling for entries by designers from all parts of the world. Eligible for submission are published works only – student and personal work will not be considered. Published contributors will be credited on the pages where their work appears, and they will appear in an artist directory. The hosts are also looking to organize a traveling exhibition of the original prints to both promote the book, work and designers that are featured in the book.

The Hellenic Centre for Photography is calling for entries for the 2017 Athens Photo Festival (APhF:17) and invites submissions by artists from all around the world. This time, APhF is themed: “Still Searching” and open for a wide variety of works, ranging from fine art to documentary and photojournalism, photo-based installations and multimedia works. Selected works will become part of the APhF:17 exhibition programme and presented at the Benaki Museum, one of the most prestigious museums in Greece. The 2017 main exhibitions will take place from 7 June to 30 July 2017.

Delivering on its “print in action” vision, IPEX announces a design challenge aimed at apprentice graphic arts designers and students to create part of its 2017 advertising campaign. Apprentices and students, and designers working in the wider community aged under 25, are invited to develop and submit a design of a visitor promotion advertisement for IPEX. The winning designs will be run in the trade press over a five-month period. Entries will be judged by a panel comprising a publisher, marketing experts, graphics designers and chaired by IPEX Event Director, Rob Fisher. The winner will receive a MacBook Air with runners-up receiving gift vouchers to redeem for equipment of their own choice. Prizes will be presented at a ceremony held on the main stage of this years’ IPEX on 1st November 2017.

The United Nations / Ranan Lurie Political Cartoon Awards are now open for entries in the 2017 competition. Submitted entries should represent work done from the beginning of September 2016, to the 15th of October 2017, reflecting the importance of human dignity, mutual respect and friendship among nations, as well as economic consideration and environmental responsibilities towards each other. The total prize money fund for 2017 is $18,000, of which $10,000 are reserved for the First prize. Plaques will also be awarded to the first three best cartoons and the ten honorable mentions.

The Taiwan International Student Design Competition (TISDC) 2017 — themed: “Opportunity“, is about to open for entries in June and all students are invited to prepare their best work. TISDC exists to encourage international creative design exchange, develop creative design talents, express the international image of Taiwan attaching great importance to creative design, and establish the international design status of Taiwan. The total prize fund for 2017 is huge and so far, it includes more than $210,000 in prize money — approximately $13,000 of which are reserved for the winner of the Grand Prix. Trophies and certificates will also be awarded.

Valtra is hosting an international tractor design competition and invites designers to show their vision for tractors in 2040. Designers, academic design studios, design studios and automotive suppliers are welcome to apply, individually or as a team of up to three (3) members. A total of 13,000 Euro will be awarded in prize money, of which 10,000 Euro are reserved for the best design.
