The 9th Celeste Prize international art competition has recently opened for entries, seeking participation from artists at every level. Celeste Prize promotes and supports the work of visual artists, ensures that it’s seen daily in over 100 countries and each year by an audience of over 2 million people. In 2017, six winners will receive 23,000 Euro prizes and every participant is up for selection in the Celeste 12 gallery benefits programme. There will also be a final exhibition of 50 works and 3 projects — at Bargehouse, OXO Tower in London, 6th-8th October, 2017 during Frieze week and a catalogue of circa 80 pages which will contain illustrations of finalists’ works and critical texts.

NYC Department of Transportation, Chinatown Partnership, and Van Alen Institute are accepting proposals for the “Gateways to Chinatown” project. The overarching goal of the Project is to provide a new landmark for Chinatown and the surrounding neighborhoods that will engender pride of place, embody cultural and social identities, and stimulate economic development. The winning team, which will be selected later this year, will have a $900,000 budget to design and implement their proposal, and will begin working with the community in early 2018.

The Planning and Visual Education Partnership (PAVE) Student Design Competition, now in its 23rd year, is open to all undergraduate college students. Geared toward college-level students involved in retail planning, visual merchandising, and branding programs, PAVE 2017 invites participants to develop concepts that expand the platforms and expressions in which Chick-fil-A serves a college campus. Explore new ways of creating an experience that is more than just a transaction of food. Prizes include grants to students and schools and winning students may even see their designs come to life. The grants for 2017 are: $7,500 — for the 1st place winner, $5,000 — for the 2nd place and $2,500 — for the 3rd place.

Photometria International Photography Festival 2017 is hosting a photography competition on the theme: “Love” and invites entries from all around the world. Photometria is a cross-cultural meeting point, bringing ideas, traditions, worldviews, and expressive media. The first prize of the competition is a Nikon D3300 + AF-P 18-55mm kit. Three other prizes are available as well. All winners will receive free pass to all seminars of Photometria International Photography Festival.

The 25th Spectrum International Competition for Fantastic Art opens entry for 2018 in October and all creators of fantastic art are invited to participate. This is an invitation to all professional and student artists, art directors, publishers and artist representatives. All art works in all mediums embracing the themes of science fiction, fantasy, horror, and the surreal are eligible for this show. Work chosen by the competition jury will be printed in the Spectrum annual, the peer-selected “best of the year” collection for the fantastic arts.

Laka opens its 2017 architecture competition — “Architecture that Reacts” — and invites designers from around the world to submit their ideas. The competition is dedicated to architecture which is able to respond and adjust dynamically to the current needs and circumstances. This architecture lives as a living organism, since it responds to the external stimuli and it develops because of it. Laka’s prize fund for 2017 is $5,000 and will be distributed between the best three designs. $2,500 are reserved for the 1st prize Winner. In addition to the monetary prizes, 10 honorable mentions will be selected and published in several international online magazines, as well as on the website of Laka.

The PLAKART Association of Graphic Designers, in partnership with Museum of City of Skopje, announces the 10th International Student Poster Competition (ISPC), Skopje 2017, on the theme “Artificial Reality“. All students on BA, MA and PhD studies of fine arts, design, visual arts, from any part of the world, are invited to enter. This year’s selected winners will become part of the jury of the 2018 Skopje Poster Festival (SPF) and will be invited to Skopje, Republic of Macedonia, at the organizer’s expense. Additionally, their works will be exhibited at the Museum of City of Skopje, during SPF 2018.

BLOOOM Award by WARSTEINER, Germany’s biggest international competition for emerging artists, is now open for entries for 2017. The competition funded by Warsteiner brewery is a steppingstone for emerging artists and offers young artists from all around the world the possibility to gain a foothold in the international art market via personal mentorings, exhibitions and travels to important art fairs in the whole world. The organizers are looking for artists who knowingly work at the interfaces between art and creative industries, whose works blur boundaries of traditional forms of expression. The competition is completely open for any topic and artistic form of expression.

The Fryderyk Chopin National Institute invites you to take part in a competition for visual identification of the 18th Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition. Anyone born on or before 19 January 1999 (i.e. aged 18 years on or before the competition announcement date) may take part in the graphic competition. The total prize fund of 47,000 Polish złoty (more than 11,000 Euro) will be divided to three main prizes. 30,000 zł are reserved for the winner of the 1st Prize, 10,000 zł for the winner of the 2nd prize and 7,000 zł for the 3rd prize winner.

Creative Quarterly (CQ) magazine’s 48th international juried competition is now open for entries and both professionals and students are invited to apply. CQ is seeking for the best art, advertising, design, illustration and photography done in the past six months. The wining works will appear in the Winter issue of Creative Quarterly and be exhibited in CQ’s online gallery, as well as entered in the Magazine’s year-end juried competitions, where the top 100 pieces for 2017 will be selected.
