The city of Lausanne in Switzerland is hosting an international student design competition on the topic of “Architecture and Water“. As the host of the founding UIA (International Union of Architects) Congress in 1948, the city of Lausanne has offered to host the 28th UIA Congress in 2023. The competition is created for the design of a Swiss Room, which should showcase Lausanne’s candidature to organize the 28th UIA Congress. The winner or winning team will have the opportunity to create the Swiss Room on site, in Seoul, in September 2017, during UIA Congress 2017, unless Lausanne should decide to withdraw its candidature prior to this date. The organizing committee will cover all costs related to the Swiss Room construction.

The Department of Economic Development (DOED) of the Taipei City Government has opened the 2017 Taipei International Design Award (TIDA) competition for registration. This year sees the 10th anniversary of the Taipei International Design Award, Taipei City Government extends its invitation to designers from all over the world to join in and vie for the highest honor. The 2017 Taipei International Design Award has a total prize fund of more than $3,000,000 (TWD), that’s more than $95,000 (USD)!
