eVolo Magazine is pleased to invite architects, students, engineers, designers, and artists from around the globe to take part in the 2020 Skyscraper Competition. Established in 2006 and held annually ever since, it is one of the world’s most prestigious awards for high-rise architecture. The eVolo Skyscraper Competition recognizes outstanding ideas that redefine skyscraper design through the implementation of novel technologies, materials, programs, aesthetics, and spatial organizations along with studies on globalization, flexibility, adaptability, and the digital revolution. A total of $8,000 will be awarded in 2020 to the best three (3) projects.

Industart, the International Industrial Design Awards is open for entries for 2019 to industrial designers in more than 60 countries around the world. This year’s competition includes a total of seven different categories and twenty-one sub-categories. The first place award for 2019 is 2,000 Euro and will be awarded in each competition category. In addition, a scholarship prize for learning at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) will be awarded as well.

The Industrial Design Centre (IDC) of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is currently accepting entries for the Typography Day 2020 Logo Design Competition. You are invited to design a logo for Typography Day 2020 so that it expresses the theme of the event – “Typographic Dialogues: Local-Global“.  As the conference is being held in Beirut, Lebanon it is encouraged to include the context of Beirut, Lebanon in the design of logo. The winning logo will be used as the official visual identity of the Typography Day 2020 event — scheduled for 28th February—1st March, 2020 in Beirut, Lebanon. In addition to the winning design, a total of six (6) Runner Up designs will be selected.

Now in its 14th year, the Bucharest International Jazz Competition has opened registration for 2020 and all jazz instrumentalists and vocalists, no older than 40, are invited to participate. Bucharest International Jazz Competition is one of the most appreciated jazz events, by specialists and the public, the event being ranked among the first 3 European jazz competitions. Communication Arts magazine is accepting entries for its annual Typography Competition — open for works, for its 2020 edition. This juried competition celebrates the best use of typography as the primary visual element in design and advertising, plus new typeface designs, calligraphy and hand lettering. Any typographic project first published or produced from September 2018 through September 2019 is eligible. Taito city government is hosting the 30th Fashion ZAKKA Design Competition and is looking for your leather and fabric fashion item designs. Anyone who is interested in ZAKKA (fashion items) design, either professional or amateur, is eligible to participate. The competition will result in awarding 25 different prizes and more than ¥850,000 (Japanese Yen) in prize money. The Grand Prize is ¥300,000. The winning designs will be produced by craftspeople in Taito.

The 2019 Bird in Flight Prize contest is open for works by unconventional photographers worldwide. The choice of theme is unrestricted. The Bird in Flight Prize is awarded for innovative approach to telling a story through a photograph, to support photographers who think outside the box of traditional artistic standards. The main prize is 2,000 Euro. The 10 best projects will be published by Bird in Flight and displayed at the exhibition at the Set art space in Kyiv, in October 2019. The Panasonic Readers’ Choice Award will also be awarded, along with 15 in-depth review opportunities.

Tapirulan Cultural Association opens registration for their 15th Illustrators Contest. The theme for 2019 is “Super“. Any artist from any part of the world can enroll by sending a single illustration of square format, made in any technique. The first prize, awarded by the competition jury, is 2,500 Euro and an invitation for a solo exhibition show in the Tapirulan gallery. Another prize of 500 Euro will also be awarded by public online voting.

The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw is hosting an open, one-stage design competition for a viewing platform at the Museums headquarters’s construction site. The aim of the competition is to develop a concept for the viewing platform, which intrigues, attracts and encourages entry and familiarization with information about the Museum and its construction. The main prize in the Competition is the implementation of the winning project. In addition, three two-month internships will also be awarded.
