Balouo Salo, through its Kaira Looro non-profit initiative and with the intention to promote gender equality in Africa, organizes the 2021 international architecture competition — Women’s House. Kaira Looro is an international architecture competition for students and young architects, the objective of which is to launch the careers of new architectural talent, raise awareness in the international community regarding the topics of emergency, and support humanitarian projects. Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, 2 honorable mentions, 2 special mentions, 20 finalists, and 20 Top 50. The winning project will receive a cash prize of €5,000 and an internship at Kengo Kuma, as well as a space measuring a maximum of 200 square meters, with only a ground floor, built with natural materials and using sustainable technologies in a process of self-construction with the benefiting community itself.

Edinburgh Short Film Festival (ESFF) is accepting submissions for 2021 in any form of short film, genre, budgets and techniques, from any part of the world. The maximum duration for submitted films is 25 minutes including credits. ESFF will present awards and trophies for the best films for 2021 selected by the jury for Best Film, Best Animation & Best Scottish Short.

The 13th Plaktivat competition on the topic of “Solidarity” is open. Take part and co-create a better living environment! The competition is open to all creators, individuals as well as agencies and companies, who want to help create our common living environment. The winning poster will be printed and published on 500 TAM-TAM city posters across Slovenia. It will be automatically entered in the competitions of the Slovenian Advertising Festival SOF and the Brumen biennial of Slovenian Design. The winner receives Plaktivat’s MEGAFON and a winning plaque.

The Ceramics of Italy 2021 competition is open for unique installations in built projects around the world that use Italian ceramic and porcelain tile. Built project winners will enjoy a 5-day CEU trip to Bologna, Italy for Cersaie 2021, the world’s leading exhibition of ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings, plus the opportunity to present their projects at Coverings 2021 in Orlando, Florida.

Jewish National Fund (JNF) is calling for entries to Envision Tomorrow’s Israel – a competition to design the JNF’s World Zionist Village. All architects, students, designers, ‘big thinkers’, educators and landscape architects from around the world (18 years and older) are invited to submit ideas. The ECFC Institution of Culture and the Association of Polish Graphic Designers are announcing an international competition for visual identification of the Camerimage European Film Centre – a newly established cultural institution in Toruń (Poland). The ECFC headquarters which, according to plans, will be completed in the second half of 2025, will serve as the venue for various cultural events – from film premieres, through film and theatre festivals, concerts, exhibitions, conferences and others. There are also plans to locate a museum of film and / or design in this building. Additionally, the ECFC space will be leased – both for social and commercial purposes. Essentially, until the end of the investment process, the Cultural Institution will co-organize subsequent editions of the EnergaCAMERIMAGE film festival every year.

Pro Carton Student Video Award, the European video storytelling competition about cartons & cartonboard is open for entries for 2021. All students enrolled at a European school/university on a recognized full-time educational course at the time of entry are welcome to join the contest. Students can enter as a team of up to 4 people or individually. The video should promote or explain one or more of the benefits of cartons/cartonboard in a creative way and there’s €5,000 to be won.

The Revelation Perth International Film Festival is accepting entries for 2021 and invites filmmakers from all around the world to submit their best works. Revelation is regarded as one of the most exciting independent film festivals in Australia and will run from 1-10 July, 2021 in Perth. The festival is competitive and offers a unique take on the traditional film festival circuit, with critical discussion, creative debate and an open exchange of ideas. Alongside the screening of over 140 films are workshops, networking opportunities and Australia’s only academic conference held in partnership with a film festival.
