The call for entries of the Derwent Art Prize 2021 competition is open and artists from around the world are invited to submit their best pencil works. The Derwent Art Prize aims to reward excellence by showcasing the very best 2D & 3D artworks created in pencil or colored pencil as well as water soluble, pastel, graphite and charcoal by British and International artists. Selected artworks will be displayed at Gallery@OXO in central London from 24 February – 6 March 2022. Alongside the chosen artworks being hung in a public display, prizes totaling £12,500 will be awarded in an awards ceremony on the opening night of the exhibition.

Registrations and submissions are now being accepted for the Kokuyo Design Award 2022 international contest — themed: Unlearning. This year’s theme targets designs for “stationery, furniture and all items generally used in working, learning and living scenes”. With the pandemic making latent issues in society more manifest, the theme is about resetting the knowledge and senses we’ve never questioned before and the experiences we’ve accumulated up to now, and exploring what designs can be created by imagining ideal futures for each of us. The best design will be awarded with 2,000,000 Japanese yen — about $18,000. Three Merit awards of 500,000 Japanese yen each, will also be announced and special prizes may as well be awarded.

The C-IDEA Design Award – the Worlds’ annual juried design competition, is open for entries, for 2021 by designers from all parts of the world. Established in 2006, the annual Skyscraper Competition is one of the world’s most prestigious awards for high-rise architecture. A total of $8,000 will be awarded in 2022 to the best three (3) projects. Médicos del Mundo Spain announces the 25th Luis Valtueña International Humanitarian Photography Award, aimed at recognizing and disseminating the best images that singularly demonstrate social inequities, injustices, and/or human rights abuses, or the situations that either foster or fight them. By giving this competition the name of the photographer and international aid worker Luis Valtueña, the organizers pay tribute to his memory and the other three humanitarian aid workers of the association murdered in Rwanda (1997) and Bosnia (1995) out their duties. It is also the organizers’ wish to highlight the human values they represent. The winner of the prize will receive a gross amount of 6,000 Euro, plus a professional camera model Leica Q2 worth a total of 5,120 Euro and a set of 10 photobooks published by La Fábrica. In addition, winning and shortlisted series will be included in the catalogue and in the collective and itinerant exhibition that Médicos del Mundo Spain shall produce or host.
