The National Space Society (NSS) is calling for submissions to the 2026 NSS Gerard K. O’Neill Space Settlement Contest. Submissions must relate to free space settlements. Settlements may not be on a planet or moon, although support activities such as mining may be. Settlements must be permanent homes, not temporary work camps. Typically, what distinguishes an outpost from a settlement is generational habitation. Submissions may focus on one or a few aspects of space settlement and supporting systems, including mines, activities leading up to settlement (such as space hotels), economic and social issues, etc. The best submission, regardless of category, wins the grand prize. The submission will be hosted on the contest web site. Finally, the highest ranking entry whose student(s) attend(s) ISDC will receive the Herman Rubin Memorial Scholarship of $5,000 and give a talk at the conference.

Bogliasco Fellowships are awarded to gifted artists and scholars working on projects of any subject area in the following disciplines: Archaeology, Architecture, Classics, Dance, Film/Video, History, Landscape Architecture, Literature, Music, Philosophy, Public Humanities, Theater, and Visual Arts. Applications are now open for the İstanbul Photo Awards 2026, an international contest where the photos that define the world agenda compete. Organized by Anadolu Agency (Anadolu Ajansı) for the 12th consecutive year, the contest aims to promote press photography globally. The contest will distribute $58,000 in prize money in total, with the Photo of the Year awarded to the top image in the Single News category, which comes with a $6,000 prize.

Photometria International Photography Festival, wishing to continue the promotion of modern photographic creation, announces a portfolio contest from 1st November to 15th December 2025. Participants are asked for one (1) portfolio of fifteen (15) photographs, of which eight (8) will be selected. Through them, the photographer will deal with a topic of his preference, an idea or even the narration of a story. The best nine (9) portfolios that will be selected will be the material of the exhibition entitled “Parallel Voices”, for 2026.
