The Future Of Money Design Awards are open for entries for 2026. The FOM26 theme is “Musical Notes & Sound Money“. The challenge is to explore and create from the relationship between money and music. Don’t let “what is” dictate “what could be”! The Future Of Money (FOM) Design Award competition calls for entries for 2019 and invites participation by creatives from all around the world. The 2019 competition is themed: “Design the financial crime of the future“. Creative practitioners are invited to employ a speculative design approach and design a future financial crime. A crime which utilizes a new loophole, a change in social convention or specific technology development. The Grand Prize for 2019 is 3,000 Euro and each shortlisted project will be awarded with 1,000 Euro. The shortlisted entrants will have the opportunity to present their concepts at Money20/20 Europe to an audience of financial experts and industry leaders, where the Grand Prize winner will be chosen.

This year, the challenge is to imagine a socially beneficial way AI could be used in the context of payments. An AI that holds the possibility of new hopes or dreams. A technology to empower the people, not enslave them or make them redundant. An Artificial intelligence that will empower the disadvantaged when it comes to money. The top three entrants will have the opportunity to present their concepts at the Tomorrows Transaction forum — which takes place on the 24th – 25th April 2018, to an audience of financial experts and industry leaders.

The 2016 Future Of Money Design Award competition challenges designers and artists to create a new origin story surrounding a monetary artifact or theory. Organizers are looking for monetary origin stories that challenge the way we think about the nature of money, with all current or past monetary artifacts usable as a starting point. For example, gold and silver, coins, paper notes, credit cards, binary code, NFC (Near Field Communication), Chip and Pin, Bitcoin, big stone blocks and everything in between. The competition runs in two phases. Each shortlisted entrant will receive £500 to develop their idea and produce a short video. The best project will be awarded with £750 and the top three entrants will have the opportunity to present their concepts at the Tomorrows Transaction forum in London, to an audience of financial experts and industry leaders.
