INDEX: Award, the biggest design award in the world — commonly referred to as the “Nobel Prize of design”, is currently accepting nominations for 2019. The importance lies in the unique, over-arching theme of Design to Improve Life: a concept enabling design to be used as a tool to address the world’s biggest challenges and reach our biggest goals. This concept has established INDEX: Award as a global, inspirational design beacon. Winners will be selected in each of the five competition categories and will be awarded with 100,000 Euro each. A total of 500,000 Euro will be awarded!

INDEX: is now accepting nominations for the forthcoming INDEX: Award 2011. The award is the largest monetary design award in the world, and it is presented biennially to five winners at a ceremony in Copenhagen. What sets the INDEX: Award apart from other design awards is its focus on designs that have a life-improving impact. INDEX: is looking for designs that target and solve the challenges and problems of human life. The award, worth a total of 500,000 euro, is presented to five winners, which are each presented with a monetary award of 100,000 euro.

This year’s challenge is a partnership between INDEX: Design to Improve Life, a Denmarkbased nonprofit organization promoting the application of design and design processes to improve important areas of people’s lives worldwide, and UNICEF, the globally recognized organization that advocates for the rights of children all across the world. The theme of this year’s challenge is Designing for Education, a call for design and business students as well as cross-disciplinary student teams to develop design solutions that improve education and the educational environment in developing regions. ObjectiveThe objective is first and foremost to encourage students from around the world to apply their design skills to global challenges. An additional objective is to teach students about the various processes needed to bring their designs to market, since that is, of course, a precondition for the designs to make an actual difference.
