1854 Media, publisher of British Journal of Photography, together with Magnum Photos, are calling photographers from around the world to enter “Portrait of Humanity”. Portrait of Humanity is a new initiative, aiming to create one of the most far-reaching collaborative photography exhibitions in history. 200 shortlisted images will be featured in the Portrait of Humanity Book. 50 winning images will be exhibited at various locations around the world from September – December 2019. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will share $10,000 in grant awards to create projects that explore their interpretations of humanity. All shortlisted and winning photographers will receive extensive international press coverage.

LensCulture and Magnum Photos photography agency are hosting an international competition, currently open for entries for 2016. The organizers have joined forces to produce one of the best opportunities for photographers all over the world to be recognized and rewarded for their talent. A distinguished jury will select 12 Winners and 20 Finalists from Documentary, Street, Portrait, Fine Art, Photojournalism and Open categories. In addition, 7 photographers will be selected as “Jurors’ Picks” and 5 “Student Spotlight” awards will be given out to young, up-and-coming talents.

The Magnum Expression Photography Award was established by Magnum Photos and HP with the goal of raising awareness and inspiring change through projects using photography as an expressive medium. Its mission is to discover and illuminate compelling documentary photography. Magnum and HP were compelled to create this award program based on the desire to illuminate and support both emerging and established photographers with vital resources. Through collaboration with Magnum’s multimedia team, feedback from jury members, and the donation of graphic arts resources, this program is unique. ObjectiveThe judges are searching for revealing imagery that illustrates dedicated compassion and intensity using photography as a medium.
