PHOTO IS:RAEL is pleased to invite artists to submit proposals for the Main Exhibition of the 13th International Photography Festival, taking place in Tel Aviv in October 2026. The theme of this year’s festival is Citizens. Selected works will be exhibited in the Festival’s Main Exhibition and featured in the 2026 Festival catalog and website.

The Meitar Award for Excellence in Photography will be awarded for the tenth time this year for a body of work that demonstrates excellence in the field of photography. Photographers from all parts of the world are invited to participate with their best works. 20 finalists will be showcased in a group exhibition at the International Photography Festival in November 2026 in Tel Aviv. The award winner will receive a $14,000 grant, composed of a personal grant of $2,500, curatorial guidance, and the production of a solo exhibition that will be part of the 2027 International Photography Festival.

The Meitar Award for Excellence in Photography, a collaboration between PHOTO IS:RAEL and the Zvi and Ofra Meitar Family Fund, will be awarded for the seventh time this year to a photographer whose works demonstrate excellence in the field of photography. This year’s winner will receive a $14,000 grant for the publication of a solo exhibition at PHOTO IS:RAEL International Photography Festival. The winner will be announced in November 2022, and the exhibition will be shown in November 2023 at the 11th International Photography Festival. During the course of that year, the winner will work on the exhibition together with PHOTO IS:RAEL’s Chief Curator. All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of leading international professionals who specialize in the field of photography, art and culture. The judges will be expected to select a series or body of work which represents a distinct and compelling personal voice.

PHOTO IS:RAEL invites artists to submit proposals for participation in the central exhibition at the 9th International Photography Festival, in Tel Aviv in November 2021. The upcoming festival theme is: “Meeting Point“. A jury of leading experts spanning a wide range of artistic genres will review the open call submissions and select the exhibiting artists. 20 artists will be invited to present their work in the festival’s central exhibition, and will also be featured on the website and in the festival catalog.

The Meitar Award for Excellence in Photography, a collaboration between PHOTO IS:RAEL and the Zvi and Ofra Meitar Family Fund, will be awarded for the fifth time this year to a photographer whose works demonstrate excellence in the field of photography. Following the worldwide Coronavirus pandemic, this year’s award process will feature a unique format that will adhere to the necessary restrictions without compromising its goal of supporting excellent photographers and the stories they tell, which are now more important than ever. This year’s winner will receive a $20,000 grant for the publication of a professional photography book through BLOW UP PRESS, a Warsaw-based boutique publishing house. The winner will be announced in November 2020, and the book will be published and launched in November 2021 at the 9th International Photography Festival. During the course of that year, the winner will work on the production of the book together with PHOTO IS:RAEL’s Chief Curator and BLOW UP PRESS’ Head Designer. The book will then be distributed through various professional platforms around the world.

PHOTO IS:RAEL invites artists to submit proposals for participation in the thematic exhibition or as special projects at the 7th International Photography Festival, taking place in Tel Aviv in November 2019. This year’s topic is “Fantasy – Between Reality and Imagination“. 25 artists will be chosen to exhibit their work in the festival’s central exhibition or as a special project within the festival. One artist will be selected as the Jury Favorite, and will be hosted in Tel Aviv during the festival.

The winner will receive a $14,000 grant for the production of a solo exhibition at next year’s festival, while works from all shortlisted candidates will be exhibited during the festival as well as at the Head On Photo Festival in Sydney, Australia during 2019.
