Royal Observatory Greenwich is calling for entries to the Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2022 competition. Astronomy Photographer of the Year showcases the world’s best space photography, from spectacular skyscapes to mind-blowing images of distant planets and galaxies. All entrants have a chance of winning cash prizes, seeing their image displayed in an exhibition at the National Maritime Museum, a year’s subscription to BBC Sky at Night magazine, and a copy of the Astronomy Photographer of the Year publication. The winner receives £10,000 and the title of Astronomy Photographer of the Year. Many other prizes are awarded as well.

The Royal Observatory Greenwich has announced the dates for the Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2016 competition – its annual global search for the most beautiful and spectacular visions of the cosmos. Whether striking pictures of vast galaxies millions of light years away, or dramatic images of the night sky much closer to home, the competition is open for entries in nine main categories. The Competition is now in its eighth year and will open to entrants on Monday 29 February 2016, offering an increase in prize money for all of the winners with the overall prize winner taking home £10,000.

The Royal Observatory Greenwich has just launched the 2015 Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition – its annual global search for the most beautiful and spectacular visions of the cosmos. The search for striking pictures of vast galaxies millions of light years away, or dramatic images of the night sky much closer to home is ongoing. Now in its seventh year, the hugely popular competition has been expanded to include a host of new categories. The overall winner of the 2015 competition will receive £2,500 and prizes will be awarded to the winners of each of the competition categories.

Entries to the Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2014 competition are now open and all astrophotographers are invited to enter. Now in its sixth year, the Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition and exhibition showcases incredible images from astrophotographers all around the world. The overall winner of the Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2014 competition will be awarded £1,500! The Competition has four main categories, each of which will include one overall winner, a runner-up and three highly commended awards.

The Astronomy Photographer of the Year Competition 2013 is now open! In this annual photography competition, the best astronomy photographers get recognition for their photos of Earth, our solar system and deep space. There is a special competition category for entrants under the age of 16. The Overall winner in the Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2013 competition will win £1500. Prizes will also be given to competition category winners, runner-ups and highly commented entries. There are three special prizes as well.

The Royal Observatory, Greenwich is proud to present another round of the Astronomy Photographer of the Year, showcasing some incredible images of the sky, from within our solar system to deep space. Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2011 has competition categories for everyone, including young astro-photographers, and there are some great prizes to be won. And this year there are also three special awards – one for newcomers, another for shots that creatively capture people and space, and a third for images that have been taken by robotic/remote telescopes and that have been processed by yourself.
