The Folio Book Illustration Award offers the opportunity for aspiring and established illustrators to provide one piece of artwork in response to Ursula K. Le Guin’s short story, The Fliers of Gy. For the Folio Book Illustration Award 2023, the judges will be looking for atmosphere and strong characterisation in the entries along with an ability to read and reflect the text. The final piece should illustrate a scene from the story, The Fliers of Gy, rather than be solely a portrait of a character. Free to enter for artists worldwide, the winner will receive a prize of £2,000 and a portfolio review.

House of Illustration and The Folio Society invite you to enter the third edition of The Book Illustration Competition. Following on from the success of The Outsider and The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories, the book to be illustrated this year is Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. The competition is open to anyone over 18 who is not a Folio Society published illustrator. The first prize is £4,500 commission from The Folio Society and there are five runners-up available, each £500 in cash.
