The long-term goal of the Land Art Generator Initiative (LAGI) is to design and construct a series of land/environmental art installations that uniquely combine aesthetic intrigue and artistic concept with clean energy generation. The LAGI viewing platforms will be tourist destinations and educational facilities, drawing people from around the world to experience the beauty of the collaborative artworks. At the same time, the art itself will continuously distribute clean energy into the electrical grid, with the sculptures having the potential to provide power to thousands of homes in the United Arab Emirates. The winning proposal will be the first in line to be constructed. Once completed, it will be the first of its kind in the world.

The Celeste Prize has been established to promote international contemporary art in the widest possible sense. There will be a final art exhibition with 50 artworks, a final catalogue of circa 150 pages with circa 120 illustrated works of art and critical texts, as well as 6 prize awards totalling €40,000. The exhibition of finalist works, voting and awards will take place at the Invisible Dog, New York City, USA, in December 2010. Excellence in content, contemporary aesthetic, technique, and material is sought in the selection of works for the final exhibition.

The Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) is seeking applications from international artists for 4–6 week individual production residencies to take place between fall 2010 and summer 2011. LIFT is a member-driven non-profit organization that provides affordable access to equipment, education and community for those who want to make film based works, out of a passion for, and commitment to, the practice of filmmaking. A wide range of production formats are supported including 8mm, Super 8mm, 16mm, Super 16mm, 35mm and HD film and digital editing, optical printers; contact printers; animation stands; a darkroom and more. Toronto also offers a wide range of lab facilities, a large pool of experienced technicians and talent, a vibrant film community and a dynamic arts environment. Target GroupLIFT’s residency program focuses on the production of film-based works with equipment and facilities to which the artist would not have access in their local region.
