Travel Photographer of the Year is run by photographers for photographers, judged by renowned photography experts and provides great prizes including travel adventures, photographic equipment, photography tuition and international exposure for your photography. But it’s not all about prizes. Travel Photographer of the Year has helped many photographers – not just the winners – to raise their profile, sell their work, get commissions or launch photographic careers. The 2010 international Travel Photographer of the Year awards are now open for entries.

The UN Regional Information Centre in partnership with the Spanish Presidency of the EU has joined the campaign with “Unleash Your Creativity Against Poverty” print ad competition open to citizens and residents, including professionals, of all 48 European countries. Major European newspapers have also joined the UN’s European campaign and will publish winning ads. A €5,000 prize sponsored by the Spanish Presidency will be awarded to the winning ad in September in Madrid. IntroductionEnd poverty by 2015 is the historic promise 189 world leaders made at the UN Millennium Summit in 2000 when they signed up to the Millennium Declaration and agreed to meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015. The MDGs are an eight-point road map with measurable targets and clear deadlines for improving the lives of the world´s poorest people. Ten years later our leaders are meeting again on 20 September in New York to review the progress, it is up to us to make sure world leaders keep their promise.

For the thirteenth time in 20 years the international residency program Akademie Schloss Solitude – located in Stuttgart, Germany – is granting approx. 60 residency fellowships of six to twelve months in duration. Persons up to 35 or if older than 35 who have completed a university or college degree within the past five years are welcome to apply. Some few fellowships are awarded regardless to the age of the applicant. International artists are invited to apply.
