To commemorate the centennial anniversary of the founding of Taiwan, R.O.C. and celebrate the merger between Taichung County and Taichung City, the Taichung City government will erect “Taiwan Tower” as an important landmark in the new special municipality. Taiwan Tower should be planned and designed with the environmental characteristics of Taichung in mind and by incorporating traditional building materials. Its name implies the tower should symbolize the “spirit of Taiwan”, the exact definition of which leaves much room for discussion. This is an international competition open worldwide.

The Nature Conservancy invites you to enter your stunning nature photos to their 5th annual digital photography competition. They’re looking for beautiful nature photography representing the diversity of life on Earth. Your own original digital images of our lands, waters, plants, animals and people in nature are all eligible for the competition. The winner’s image will be printed on the cover of the 2012 Nature Conservancy calendar – reaching nearly 2 million households worldwide, and will be featured on The Nature Conservancy’s website, which is visited by more than 3 million people annually.

With significant shifts in focus and scope, reflected in a new name, the 17th International Contemporary Art Festival SESC_Videobrasil opens enrolment for two different modalities of selection and prizes. Starting with this edition, the Southern Panoramas Competitive Exhibition will accept work of various natures: video, installation, performance, printed objects, and other artistic experiments. The competitive exhibition will award the monetary and residency prizes.
