Scratch! – the first festival in Lecce entirely dedicated to animated shorts – is currently accepting entries for 2012. The Festival is after short animated films and videos and has two competitive categories. Traditional, stop motion, 2D and 3D animations, as well as mixed media and visual effects works are all eligible for this festival. The Scratch! festival includes two days of screenings open to the public free of charge.

The Faena Arts Center is currently hosting the 2012 Faena Prize competition. This is an open call to artists across the world that offers US$25,000 in prize money and US$50,000 to finance the production of a site-specific project. Entries for new projects in different artistic fields are now being accepted from single artists or groups of artists. The objective of the Faena Arts Center is to provide a space for the most cutting-edge expressions in contemporary art through a program of exhibitions with a strong interdisciplinary focus.
