The call for entries of the Derwent Art Prize 2016 competition is now open and artists from around the world are invited to submit their best pencil works. The Derwent Art Prize aims to reward excellence in pencil art, including 2D and 3D works created with any pencil or colored pencil as well as water soluble, pastel, graphite or charcoal pencils. There are almost £12,500 worth of prizes to be won, of which £6,000 are reserved for the First Prize. An exhibition of the selected work will be on show at the Mall Galleries, London from 19-24 September 2016.

3×3, the Magazine of Contemporary Illustration, has recently opened the call for entries for its 13th (2016) annual International Illustration Awards Show. The competition is open to all illustrators at all levels in all countries. In addition art directors, graphic designers, educators, editors and publishers may enter work completed by illustrators. Awards include best of show, gold, silver and bronze medals as well as distinguished merit and merit awards and honorable mentions. All winners will be promoted online and in the press.
