Applications are now open for the 2017 Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise, which for this cycle are awarded in the fields of biomedical science and fine arts.
This is the first time that Fine Arts is a category for the Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise. Artists across all media (who are not currently full-time students) are eligible to apply. Collectives are also welcome, provided all members meet the eligibility requirements.
Three prizes are awarded in both categories, and each prize includes a $50,000 unrestricted cash award.
Biomedical science applicants must hold an independent, full-time position in a research or academic institution, and must have earned a doctoral degree.
All applicants must have been born outside of USA and be no older than 38 years old on 31 December 2016.
The winners will be invited to attend the Vilcek Foundation’s annual awards ceremony in New York City, in the spring of 2017.
The Creative Promise Prizes were established in 2009 to honor young immigrants who have demonstrated exceptional achievement early in their careers.
