Non Architecture is hosting a new design competition called “Spacecraft Design” and invites participants to create a design for a spaceship. The aim of the “Spacecraft Design” competition is to develop one drawing to communicate a conceptual design. The participants are asked to design a vehicle that responds to the requirements of the brief and one axonometric projection to represent it, with absolute freedom of interpretation, technique and level of abstraction. Even the concept of axonometric itself can be questioned in order to craft the most expressive way to represent the design. The best design will be awarded with 1,000 Euro, publication in the Non Architecture Competitions books and website and reviews in digital magazines and several architecture blogs. In addition, honorable mentions and other prizes will be awarded.

Laka Foundation is accepting entries to the Design Educates Awards (DEAwards) 2022 competition, to recognize the best educational ideas and implementations of architecture and design. Design itself may provide an informative and educational layer that guides us through the increasing complexity of our environment. It can highlight specific possibilities and challenges, explain sociocultural factors and influences, or even outline new scenarios for future development. Each year, the esteemed panel of judges selects outstanding ideas and implementations in the categories of architectural design, product design, universal design, and responsive design. Laureates of the awards join an elite group of 116 members from 35 countries to date, are invited to present their designs during the awards ceremony in Germany, and are included in the book Design Educates. (So far, three editions of the ceremony have taken place, and three volumes of the book have been published.) The winners, laureates of prizes, honorable mentions, and nominations will be selected in each competition category. In addition to the general evaluation, the student project with the highest score will be awarded the label of Emerging Designers.

The World Photography Organisation has opened the 15th edition of the Sony World Photography Awards, the world’s most diverse photography competition. Now in its 15th year, the Sony World Photography Awards are one of the world’s leading photography competitions, celebrating the best contemporary photography from across the globe and providing photographers with significant exposure and career-building opportunities. All category winners of the Professional, Open, Youth and Student competitions will receive digital imaging equipment from Sony. In addition, cash prizes of $25,000 (USD) will be presented to the Photographer of the Year and $5,000 (USD) to the Open Photographer of the Year. All winning and shortlisted photographers’ works will be exhibited at the annual Sony World Photography Awards exhibition in London and will then be toured internationally. The winning images will also be published in the annual Awards book.

The Stanford Center on Longevity invites university students from around the world to compete to win the grand prize of $10,000 in its 9th annual Design Challenge.
