Artists and curators from all parts of the world are invited to submit applications for the 7th Moscow International Biennale for Young Art.
Emerging artists are encouraged to submit open call applications to create three objects of site-specific art for three internal facades of the Museum of Moscow. A 10-project shortlist will be drawn up by the Board of Experts, whereas the international jury will go on to select 3 winners from the shortlist.
From 13 July to 13 September 2020 the Moscow International Biennale for Young Art will take place in Moscow for the seventh time. Traditionally held in summer, the upcoming Biennale for Young Art will now last until mid-September to coincide with many major events in the city: summer festivals, Moscow City Day, and the Cosmoscow International Contemporary Art Fair.
The 7th Moscow International Biennale for Young Art will be comprised of 4 programmes:
- Main Project
- Special Programme
- Educational Programme
- Parallel Programme
It is the second time the Museum of Moscow has given its space to the Main Project of the Biennale for Young Art and become the partner of the 7th Moscow International Biennale for Young Art.
The 2020 Biennale will be run, as always, in the spirit of care and attention to artists and curators, openness towards all Moscow institutions promoting contemporary art, expansion of urban projects and the project’s geography, and forging horizontal connections. The accessibility of the project to a wider audience and the regional focus are among the most urgent issues on this year’s agenda.
The Special Programme will consist of large-scale partnered projects organised and supported by the institutions that work to promote emerging artists, including Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art and Winzavod Open programme, the Cosmoscow International Contemporary Art Fair and others, and will take place at various venues across the city.
The Educational Programme, created in partnership with the RANEPA, will be divided into two parts: public and professional. For the first time in the history of its Educational Programme, the Biennale for Young Art will hold 5 sessions of Portfolio Review for artists from across Russia. The Portfolio Review sessions will take place at the Gilyarovsky Center: the artists will travel to Moscow following the results of the open call. A separate Portfolio Review session will be held for Art Critics from different federal subjects of Russia.
The VII Biennale for Young Art continues with the ongoing support from its previous founders and organisers, namely the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Moscow City Department of Culture, and the National Centre for Contemporary Art (NCCA) represented by the ROSIZO State Museum and Exhibition Centre and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA).
