Contest Disciplines

The World Food Photography Awards 2027 has opened for entries. The Awards celebrate exceptional photography telling stories of food: from growing and harvesting, cooking and eating, celebrating to surviving.

You do not need to specialise in food photography. With 26 categories to choose from, there’s something for every style of photographer: travel, still life, documentary, portrait & more. It’s the story that matters.

Entering puts your work on a global stage: images are judged by an international panel of leaders in food, photography & the creative industries. Plus, images from the Awards receive media coverage from hundreds of outlets around the world every year.

All finalists are invited to our VIP Awards Evening & exhibited at the organizer’s Mall Galleries London exhibition, with a selection displayed at Fortnum & Mason too. The top prize is £5,000, with category prizes from £1,000 to a 4-week residency with Hugo Burge Foundation.

The competition invites professional and amateur photographers from around the world to submit images that tell food stories. Entries may be shot in any photographic style, from landscape and travel to portrait and documentary.

Several categories are new for 2027. The Newcomer Prize is reserved for first-time entrants. UNIDO Future of Food – World Without Hunger focuses on food security. London Museum London Tastes looks at the British capital’s food culture. A Feast of Flowers is a one-year-only category introduced to mark the awards’ alignment with the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, and it explores the relationship between food and flowers.

The awards are open to professional and amateur photographers worldwide, and there is no restriction on when photographs were taken. Entrants aged 17 or under compete in the Jamie Oliver Youth Prize categories. Students currently on, or within 12 months of completing, a photography course at a recognised college or university may enter the RPS Student Food Photographer of the Year category. The UK for UNHCR Food as Home category is open only to photographers with a refugee background or experience of forced displacement.

From prestige, press coverage & prize money to commercial opportunities, confidence & community, there is much to be gained from entering.
