The Association of Illustrators (AOI) in partnership with USA-based Directory of Illustration, announces the World Illustration Awards 2021.
This year the organizers will be celebrating great illustration from across the globe, with an emphasis on supporting illustrators many of whom have continued to make amazing work in incredibly challenging circumstances in light of COVID-19.
Illustrators, commissioners, agents and tutors are invited to submit work created, commissioned or published since January 2020 into the ten categories of the Awards, which are judged by distinguished professionals from the global illustration industry. There are also some great prizes on offer, including generous cash prizes for the Overall Winners.
The World Illustration Awards are a year-long showcase of great illustration.
500 longlisted projects will be published on AOI’s website in June, followed by the announcement of 200 shortlisted projects which will feature in an Online Showcase launching in September, and a printed catalogue published in October. The variety, quality and creativity highlighted throughout the year promises to offer something for everyone!
The AOI first ran an annual competition, called Images, in 1975 that was open to any British Illustrator. In 2012, Images was replaced by the AOI Illustration Awards, which ran for 2 years. In 2015 the AOI formed a partnership with the Directory of Illustration in the USA and created the World Illustration Awards.
