The Global Health Workforce Alliance is pleased to announce a photo competition — “Health Workers Count” — for its upcoming Third Global Forum on Human Resources for Health. Professional and non-professional photographers worldwide are invited to participate in a photo contest under the theme “a day in the life of a health worker.”
Three main prizes will be announced in each of the competition categories. The first prize in each category is US $500.
The competition categories are as follows:
- Africa (including North Africa)
- Americas
- Asia
- Europe
- Middle East
- Oceania (Australia, etc.)
The contest aims to raise awareness of the importance of all cadres of health workers, who save lives every day, despite difficult conditions and inadequate resources. The organizers believe that photos “in action” will reinforce health messages, and will present information in a visually interesting format, which will go a long way in influencing attitudes.
Photographs that have already been published elsewhere or are the property of a third party are not eligible.
The winners of the “Health Workers Count” photo contest will be announced at the Third Global Forum on Human Resources for Health, which will take place in Brazil, from 10-13 November 2013. The winning and nominated photographs will be displayed at the Forum venue and will be published on the Forum website and the Alliance Facebook page together with the contest results.
