The Locarno Film Festival is hosting an international poster competition to select the official poster for its 76th edition.
Every year, the Locarno Film Festival unveils a selection of the best global independent and experimental productions and hosts innovative outlooks and projects, to create previously unseen images together, freely. To strengthen this dialogue, this year the Festival has decided to invite international graphic designers, artists and creators to come up with the poster for the 76th edition, scheduled for 2–12 August, 2023, in Locarno, Switzerland.
The winner, in addition to receiving a cash prize of 5,000 Swiss francs, will see their idea and work at the core of Locarno76.
The selection will be based on the image’s adherence to the identity of the Locarno Film Festival, as well as its originality and versatility.
The competition is open to everyone: graphic designers, illustrators, designers, photographers, artists, but also creatives and enthusiasts from all over the world and without age limits, who interpret the spirit of the Festival for the graphic concept of the next edition.
For 76 years the Locarno Film Festival, in addition to being an international stage for independent cinema, has been the scene of exchange and dialogue. It’s a place in which to acquire knowledge, discover, experiment and grow together. A place where sensitivity, visions, perspectives, ideas and desires find the space and time to express themselves, strengthened by the value the Festival holds above all else: freedom. Over the decades, the Locarno Film Festival, in parallel to being a film platform for the independent industry, has grown in its training offer, giving life to concepts and projects such as the Locarno Academy, BaseCamp, Locarno Kids and spring workshops of international renown.
