The Luxembourg Society for Contemporary Music announces its 10th International Composition Prize for 2013 in cooperation with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra.
Composers from all over the world are invited to present new works for an orchestra consisting of seven traditional Chinese instruments and seven classical western instruments.
Four monetary prizes will be awarded and the prize-winning works will be issued on CD.
Present New Works for an Orchestra of Seven Traditional Chinese Instruments + Seven Classical Western Instruments
The pieces may be scored for the full ensemble of 14 musicians. Compositions, in a single movement, have to consist of 9 music sections. Each music section shall be inspired by a painting / photograph of a scene or scenery. The pictures are up-loadable online.
Only one entry per person will be accepted.
The judges will select four works in a preliminary round. These works will be premiered at the Final Concert to be given in Hong Kong on 11th January 2013. During the Final Concert, the selected works will be performed together with a slide show of the pictures providing inspiration.
Four prizes will be awarded: €3,000 / €2,000 / €1,500 / €1,000 and the prize-winning works will be issued on CD.
