The Biomimicry Institute opens its 2021 Global Design Challenge and invites participation by teams of 2-8 individuals from all parts of the world. The Biomimicry Global Design Challenge calls for design concepts addressing any issue(s) outlined by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Challenge aims to mobilize thousands to look to life on our planet as models, mentors and as sustainable forms of measurement to help create peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. Challenge finalist teams are invited to join the Biomimicry Institute’s Launchpad for an opportunity to turn their ideas into a reality.

Biomimicry Institute has recently opened registration for its 2016 Biomimicry Global Design Challenge, themed “Food Systems” for the second time. Students and professionals around the world are challenged to develop a biomimetic design that solves an important food system challenge while supporting the health of our planet. The Biomimicry Global Design Challenge offers a $100,000 “Ray of Hope” Prize, awarded through a special Accelerator Program to the best of finalists teams. Other cash prize of up to $33,000 (US) will also be awarded, $9,500 will be reserved for Students.

Registration has recently opened for the 2015 Biomimicry Global Design Challenge, an annual design competition for solving critical sustainability issues using nature as a guide, themed “Food Systems”. Students and professionals around the world are invited to apply nature’s design principles while creating solutions that help support a healthy planet. The Biomimicry Institute’s goal is to build an artery of sustainable innovation inspired by nature and to help bring more biomimetic solutions to market. The competition has two rounds, a design concept round followed by a prototype round – the winner of which will receive the Ray C. Anderson Foundation’s $100,000 “Ray of Hope” Prize.
