Established in 2012 by artists for artists, Wells Art Contemporary (WAC) is an international opportunity for innovative visual artists working in all genres. WAC allows UK and international artists to put their work before a prestigious panel of judges. Selected entries are exhibited in the remarkable Gothic spaces of Wells Cathedral and seen by up to 50,000 people annually. They are automatically entered for a wide range of awards, including cash prizes, a residency, mentoring and more. Work may be offered for sale. Now in its 14th year, WAC’s next exhibition will take place in August 2024.

The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize has an established reputation as the UK’s most important annual exhibition of drawing. One can apply for the main exhibition and awards or for the Working Drawing Award, celebrating and promoting the role of drawing within architecture, design and making process. The exhibition and awards are open to applications by emerging, mid-career and established drawing practitioners located anywhere in the UK and internationally.

The Wells Art Contemporary (WAC) Awards, an open competition for contemporary art, is calling for entries for 2020. Artists over the age of 18, based in the UK or internationally, are invited to enter up to 4 works in any medium – painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, photography, installation or video. The competition offers multiple exhibition prizes and a £2,000 prize for the best artist for 2020.

Open to artists working in painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, photography, installation or video, the WAC Awards aims to stimulate debate, challenge and provoke, pushing the boundaries of the visual arts scene both nationally and internationally. The Wells Art Contemporary (WAC) Awards is an international open competition for contemporary visual arts which has already established a strong presence in the London art world and which is drawing artists from places as diverse as Australia, Azerbaijan, India, Italy, Korea, Japan and the United States. The 2019 shortlisted works will be exhibited at an exciting new venue, Wells Cathedral, set in the medieval heart of England’s smallest city. The exhibition will take place from 20 July – 11 August 2019, and those selected will be eligible for a wide range of awards which include a cash prize, exhibition prizes and professional development opportunities.

The call for entries of the Derwent Art Prize 2016 competition is now open and artists from around the world are invited to submit their best pencil works. The Derwent Art Prize aims to reward excellence in pencil art, including 2D and 3D works created with any pencil or colored pencil as well as water soluble, pastel, graphite or charcoal pencils. There are almost £12,500 worth of prizes to be won, of which £6,000 are reserved for the First Prize. An exhibition of the selected work will be on show at the Mall Galleries, London from 19-24 September 2016.
