Professional and New Talent Illustrators (working individually or as collectives), commissioners, agents and tutors are invited to submit work created, commissioned or published since January 2024, into the Awards. This globally-recognised competition has ten industry-relevant categories and is judged by distinguished professionals from the global illustration industry.

The Association of Illustrators (AOI), in partnership with Directory of Illustration, is pleased to announce the Call for Submissions for the 2017 World Illustration Awards. For over four decades, the AOI has presented the most prestigious Award for contemporary illustration in the UK and globally, celebrating the most inspiring illustration throughout the world. All Category Winning entries and a selection of other shortlisted work will be included in the awards exhibition at Somerset House in August 2017. Somerset House is a major arts and cultural centre in the heart of London. Selected works will be toured for 12 months, exhibiting to over 50,000 visitors.

The Association of Illustrators, in partnership with Directory of Illustration, is pleased to announce the new Call for Submissions to the World Illustration Awards 2016. The awards call for any practising or new talent artist from all over the globe, to enter their commissioned or self initiated projects into one of the eight categories. An international jury of industry insiders will cast their votes over all received entries and select the best work and category award winners. Winners will gain worldwide publicity for their work and recognition within the industry. Highlights of the shortlist will be featured in a touring exhibition, starting at Somerset House in London, and accompanying publication, which will be distributed to major commissioners. The AOI and Directory of Illustration will promote all shortlisted work to their global network of illustration networks and commissioners.

The Association of Illustrators (AOI) and the Directory of Illustration have joined forces to present a new international illustration competition, the World Illustration Awards 2015. For nearly four decades, the AOI has presented the most comprehensive and significant awards for illustration in the UK. Now, for the first time in it’s history, the organization welcomes the Directory of Illustration as its international partner. The World Illustration Awards are open to illustrators working in any medium, context or geographical location and work may be entered as either a New Talent entry or a Professional entry. New Talent entrants are Undergraduate Students, Post-Graduate Students or Graduates within two years of graduation. Professional entrants are all other professional illustrators. Work can be entered by the creator of the work (illustrator, student /new graduate) or by any third party such as an Agent, Designer, College, Publisher or Commissioner.
