The Renaissance Photography Prize was founded in 2007 by Fiona Gifford, a lawyer and keen amateur photographer who was diagnosed with breast cancer aged 34. Seven years on, the prize has become an established fixture in the photography world. Last year the competition attracted thousands of entries from 64 countries. It has provided hundreds of photographers with international exposure and valuable professional opportunities, and continues to make a difference for cancer sufferers.
