A new call for entries for the Lumen Prize for Digital Art has been announced and the competition is now open for entries for 2016.
The Lumen Prize celebrates the very best art created digitally by artists around the world. Its goal is to celebrate the power and potential of this exciting genre through an annual competition and global tour of works selected by an eminent panel of judges.
The 2016 competition will offer prizes worth $11,000. Shortlisted and winning works will become part of the global Lumen tour and will be exhibited in London, Shanghai, New York City and Caerphilly Castle Wales. The tour will also include one-night Lumen Highlight events in London, Swansea and Cardiff.
The shortlisted and winning works will also be featured on the Lumen Prize Gallery, hosted by Google CulturalSpot, and its annual printed catalogue.
Any art created by a digital device using proprietary, open-source or creatively-coded software. Entries using animation techniques, CGI and moving-image software to produce 3D, interactive and time-based works with or without sound are all welcome. Works which use gaming technology, VR, AR, a website or an app are also eligible for entry.
The Lumen Prize was established in 2012 by Lumen Projects, a UK-based non-for-profit company. It is now in its fifth year of existence.
Lumen Prize 2016 Entry Fees
The entry fee is $45 US for 2 works and $22.50 US for each additional work.
