Your self portraits define you. Artists Wanted and See.me invite you to enter The Power of Self – a competition celebrating the power of self portraits. Your story, told through images, is the most powerful story ever told.
Objective
The self-portrait has been a powerful and studied medium since we first saw our reflection. From Vincent van Gogh to Diane Arbus, the self has been the subject of most all the art worldʼs greats. The self-portrait transcends medium, style and period, existing in the vast space between fantasy and reality. Photography, painting, sculpture, multi- media and all other forms of art have been employed to create stunning works that are both personal and prophetic.
This competition is about your story, your image and the power you hold.
The organizers are looking for self-portraits in any form be it: photography, painting, video art, sculpture, mixed-media, collage, design.
You don’t have to be the world’s greatest photographer, painter or artist to win this competition. Your art simply needs to be a compelling portrait of how you see yourself.
Prizes
By participating in The Power of Self, you will receive recognition for your work, a free and exclusive See.Me website, and a thank you package with discounts and freebies valued at over $75.
A select few artists will receive life-changing awards.
As the Grand Prize Award Winner, you will receive: one year of your life paid for, a gala NYC reception, a video documentary produced about you, a free lifetime See.me website and the ultimate self portrait…
The highest rated portfolio, as voted on by the public will receive a cash award of $2,500 and exposure to tens of thousands of art enthusiasts around the world. Every week Artists Wanted will highlight one participant in the project, if selected your story and portfolio will be made famous.
Rules
- Any creative work that is a portrait of you is eligible for this award.
- Conceptual proposals and work-in-progress are also welcome.
- The Power of Self is open to international artists, who are 13 years of age or older as of the date of entry.

Entry fee
Participants may submit up to 7 images at $10 per image. For 8 or more images (maximum of 20 images), we offer a flat discounted rate of $79.
