Video Competition 2010 – European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights

The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights is organising a video competition on the topic of fundamental rights awareness and/or protection within the EU. What are your fundamental rights? Do you know how to protect your fundamental rights?

Create a short 2 minute video that portrays your experiences of fundamental rights awareness and/or protection within the EU.

The makers of the 3 winning videos will be invited for a screening on the occasion of the 2010 Europe Day in Vienna, Austria, on 9 May 2010.

Objective

Submit videos that portray your experiences of fundamental rights awareness and/or protection within the EU.

  • What are your fundamental rights?
  • Do you know how to protect your fundamental rights?

You are free to shoot your video as you choose, as long as it relates to one or both topic questions. Voice or written commentary is not obligatory, if you think that your video is self-explanatory, but we would recommend that you include one or the other.

You may consider using a hand-held video camera, a digital camera or a mobile phone. Please use the equipment that you already have or can easily borrow.

Videos will be evaluated on the basis of their relevance to the topic, originality and creativity. We realise that English, German, French, Spanish or Italian will be foreign languages to many participants; therefore language mistakes will not be penalised, as long as the content is understandable. We realise that participants may not have the technical skills or the equipment to produce videos, therefore technical quality of the submission will not be evaluated, as long as the image is clearly visible and sound is audible.

Prizes

Awards are sponsored by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights.

The makers of the 3 winning videos will be invited for a screening on the occasion of the 2010 Europe Day in Vienna, Austria, on 9 May 2010.

The 3 winners will each win a 5 day trip for 2 people to Vienna, from 6 May to 10 May 2010, with transportation and accommodation included.

They will also have free entry to the 2010 Symposium on the Institutional Mechanisms to Protect Fundamental Rights in the EU organised by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights on 7 May 2010.
