What’s Your Type? – Collaborative Type Design Project

Oh Momma!, a graphic design studio by Johnny Isaacs, is asking all creatives to recreate their favourite character of the alphabet however they want for a huge collaborative project. You can do whatever you want. The gloves are officially off for this one so let yourself go nuts. So, What’s Your Type?

The entries that get the most votes will then be turned into a screen printed poster of a new alphabet.

This project is going to be huge and really exciting so what are you waiting for? Getting those pens out, dust off that Mac and start making some type.

Design Your Favourite Character from the Alphabet

All you need to do to enter is to choose your favourite character from the alphabet, design or illustrate it however you see fit and when you think it is good enough just send it.

For some inspiration (if you need it) Johnny Isaacs would really recommend checking out Jessica Hische’s work on The Daily Drop Cap.

A New Alphabet Posterized!

The entries that get the most votes will then be turned into a screen printed poster of a new alphabet.

Everyone whose letters are chosen will get a copy of the poster completely free and anyone else who would like a poster can purchase a limited number from the shop we will set up. There will also be postcards made of each character so that people can get just their favourite character. Who knows it could even be turned into an actual alphabet that can be downloaded or purchased.

What’s Your Type? Wants Original Designs Only

  • The work you submit must be original & your own.
  • Oh Momma! can’t accept work that is already an existing typeface or found imagery / photographs of street art, graffiti, tags etc.

How to Submit Your Freshly Designed Character?

Create the character or characters you want and submit the designs to hello [at] (please replace [at] with @). Your work will then go onto the Oh Momma blog, where people can vote for it.
