World of 7 Billion Student Video Contest 2016-2017

Population Connection, as part of its Population Education program, is accepting entries in the World of 7 Billion Student Video Contest 2016-2017.

All students worldwide (grade 6-12, or the international equivalent) are invited to create a short video – up to 60 seconds – about human population growth that highlights one of the following global challenges: Climate Change, Ocean Health, or Rapid Urbanization.

A total of $7,500 will be awarded in separate category prizes. The first place prize for each category is either $1,000 or $500, depending on the grade.

There is no limit to the number of students who can work on a video and no limit to the number of entries per participant.

The World of 7 Billion contest is a project of the Population Education program, provider of K-12 classroom resources and professional development opportunities. The contest is run every school year.

The contest first ran during the 2010-2011 school year as a “teachable moment” around world population reaching 7 billion.
